Hey everybody, I want to start taking my black lab in the stinger with me. Any recommendations for seat covers? How about covering doors and window ledges?

Thanks,

Jeff

No cover will protect the interior from damage from a big dog over time.

Unless you're OK turning the back seating into your "dog car", get a crate (or use a different vehicle.)

When I had a crew cab pickup I got one that was fabric one side, rubberish on the other, loops for the head rests, loops with a 6" piece of pipe to wedge between seats and seat backs and elastic front corner diagonals. It was great (and still is). For the Kia, I shopped around until I finally found one that was "fitted to the seats". Got one for rear and one for passenger. When it came, there were 3 pieces of fabric / plastic, which had obviously been opened and then stuffed back into the original packaging. A long skinny piece to lay on the back of the rear seat behind the head rests with some velcro and a big rectangle that had velcro along one side to kinda match up with the other piece and then hang down the seat backs and sort of lay on the seats - at least until the dog stepped on it. The third piece was also a rectangle that had one end sewn into a pocket to hang over the passenger head rest and the rest draped down the seat back and laid on the seat - until the dog stepped on it. Horrible! When I tried to return them for not actually being fitted to the seats the deal was: 1) no warranty, 2) 50% restocking, 3) have to pay for shipping. So I could get $12 refund if I returned them. I kept them, figuring I could use the fabric in them for something and if I returned them, they would just screw someone else by reselling them yet again. Wish I could remember or find the place to warn you specifically about.

I suggest checking Chewey.com and see what they have that might work. They seem to be generally pretty reliable with reasonable customer service.

Thank you. I'm thinking i just won't put the dog in the car.

Your best option would be to leave the rear seat folder down and buy something to protect the back of the seat and the hatch floor area.

If you or someone you know is handy with a sewing machine you can make your own very cheaply. My wife just bought a cheap couch cover off amazon with similar dimensions to her car's back seat, cut out holes for the safety belts and stitched around the holes to reinforce them, and then sewed on elastic and buttons to secure it to the seats through the headrests and seat bottoms (not sure we could do this with the Stinger seat bottoms). We've used it for thousands of miles over four years with no damage to the leather from dogs.

You could put something underneath for more protection if you needed. Also on longer trips a dog bed would go on top.

For the door it would be a little trickier. Maybe you could make something soft that slotted into the handle area of the door, or any easier option would be to just hang something between the front and back headrests

I have something similar to what was linked above and it works great. I wouldn't hesitate to try one of those before going to some other method.

That is the best looking design I have seen and the price is reasonable. I just ordered one. Thanks for the tip.
My dog seems to really like it too. She can sometimes get stressed in the car. But with this model she is totally relaxed and will actually lay down most of the drive. I suspect because it encloses her and she feels like it's a safe space.
