What a rigamarole but congrats on finally making it thru and getting the whip back! Def blows that it happened when you just got the car.
I got rear ended here in LA on the 405 but back in Feb 2021 - and my car was already 2 years old. I got lucky on the claim bc the other driver totally cooperated (and was a native aka citizen!) so the insurance of it all went smoothly. I got a cheap rental covered and my shop did take about 2 months if I’m recalling correctly - pretty sure bc of the damn bumper part for sure. The shop was stoked that I let them deal with all the costs directly with insurance bc in general that means they can make extra dough from the insurance. I didn’t mind bc this shop has been good to me in the past and per my request they also got my my modded pipes adjusted to reduce rattle (which I’m happy to say it worked!).
A few years ago I had just upgraded the rear fascia to my ‘05 Mustang. The rear fascia was also freshly painted. Here I am in traffic at a red light and some goon, who was paying more attention to their phone than the road, hits me right in the back. Miraculously, the facia wasn’t damaged, but they scratched the paint. I don’t know why this crap happens. All I can say is, hang in there, man. All will work out in the end.Bought my new 2022 Stinger GT2 in January 2022 and LOVE IT!
Got rear ended this last week and was pretty devastated as I've only had it for less than 2 months and haven't even gone past 1000 miles yet.
As far as I can tell there isn't a lot of damage underneath from what I can see, and my car doesn't alert to any sensible damage. My trunk still closes but it does have some visible warping where the trunk meets the body inside.
Just took her in to a body shop today so they can estimate if there are any other repairs necessary.
My biggest issue right now is that because of the National Back order on pretty much EVERYTHING, they said my car might be sitting around for awhile waiting for those parts.
Hopefully they can get it fixed up just enough so I can drive it home without having to tow it again. What a nightmare.
Has this happened to anyone else recently? What was your experience with damage to the back end of these cars?
I am super worried because it was SO hard to find this color and model together. I had to drive almost an hour and a half away to another KIA dealership to get.
Just hoping she's back to new soon so I can keep enjoying it. I have so many plans for customizing!
