I've always had bad rear inner edge wear. Right on the corners on the inside of the rear tyres. I put aftermarket camber arms in but that hasn't helped much which means it's a toe issue. I've had it aligned a few times this last set but think I'll try some custom rear toe numbers this time.
Just a though, I wonder if the ATQ Subframe Collars would help with these toe issues. I haven’t studied the geometry of the rear suspension closely, but I’m wondering if any play in the subframes is allowing toe to change.
Well, I replaced the worn stock tires with General Gmax AS-05's with a 50k treadwear warranty and 500 treadwear rating (wife's car, don't need crazy grip). Professional alignment was done at the same time.
It's now got 23k on the new tires, rotated every oil change (7k miles) so the rears have been back there for about 14k at this point and they are to the wear bars. They are showing more wear on the insides than the outsides again. I'm going to rotate them one more time and hopefully get a bit more life out of them since the front should wear more on the outsides and then it will be time for 4 new tires in the next 5-7k miles. Unfortunately the uneven wear is going to prevent me from being able to take advantage of the tire warranty.
Front tires look much better (as they should since they aren't even halfway to 50k miles they are rated for). They are showing even wear and aren't close to the wear bars anywhere. I may get out my calipers and measure the tread depth front and rear.
I may have it aligned again but request they pull all the camber out of it and maybe even give me a slight bit of rear toe in so it will wear more evenly. Wish I'd bought the "lifetime" alignment last time. I didn't figure I'd be aligning it twice in 50k miles though. I've got other vehicles that have gone 100k+ and never needed aligned.
