Speculation Kia will axe production of the Stinger by end of 2022.
Sales might have boomed at the start if they’d actually marketed the car better. Stinger and the features they put in it has lifted the standard of their other models. There’s aspects of it in all other models now. It’ll be a shame if they axe it after only 4 model years. The old reverse Psychology trick, now sales will boom.
I'm thinking that will be an $80-$85k+ (Aud) Kia. The non-GT EV6 will be lucky to "start" around the current Stinger GT money @ circa $65k.I'd be looking at KIA EV6 GT (not GT-line) expected Nov 2022 with 575HP estimated 0-100 in 3.5 secs.
Hopefully pricing close to Stinger GT.

Tesla has been dropping their price a number of times this year up to $15K drop. Considering Model 3 Performance bang for buck but hate that it doesn't and will never have a HUD. Aftermarket ones not great (aesthetics).I'm thinking that will be an $80-$85k+ (Aud) Kia. The non-GT EV6 will be lucky to "start" around the current Stinger GT money @ circa $65k.
Point being KIA needs to be competitive.Tesla has been dropping their price a number of times this year up to $15K drop. Considering Model 3 Performance bang for buck but hate that it doesn't and will never have a HUD. Aftermarket ones not great (aesthetics).
Agreed but it does not look like it will be ... the top spec Kia Niro-EVs is already approaching $70k (aud) on road here ... the EV6 pricing will start about there, which is already at the Stinger GT's current pricing. If you want the top spec be prepared to fork out another $15-20k easily, maybe more?Point being KIA needs to be competitive.

Sure it certainly looks to be close to supercar fast in a drag race, but just isn't one ... and maybe it's not trying to be either. Is it more an suv, right?
For me ... I'll be waiting for someone to drop proper EV styled coupe (other than Porsche) before I move on from the Stinger (... please hear this Genesis)
Interesting times though.
The EV6 GT is available for pre-order in some markets. The pricing in those markets shows it will be the most expensive offering from Kia/Hyundai and will most likely be priced higher than comparative Teslas.
Apparently, Kia has decided to go stupid with their entry into the performance EV market.

InterestingWow.... converted that UK price to $109000 aud. I know the Stinger is more expensive over there too. But even if they manage to bring it down some, I'm still not sure how the EV6 would work at an Aud $85-$90-100k? I would not consider it a desirable car, nor premium, or fitting into the early adopter of emerging tech either (... it's almost a decade behind Tesla). Interesting, yes for sure. Would I like to see one here, yes. On the road, yes. For Kia to continue show they can build high quality high tech cars, yes. Would ever consider buying one, no, likely never.
Stinger EV7 ... now, I could be into thatInteresting
I get the impression KIA and Hyundai both want to move away from ICE's to EV's to be in business and have taken the first steps with the Stinger based on its sales decline.Very disappointing it was cut a few years sooner than expected. Korean Car Blog has been pretty spot on with all their stories for the Stinger previously.
It would be nice if Kia Australia did a limited edition before the end, but with 6 month wait times there doesn't seem like much of a reason to do one. While the previous Carbon and Night Sky editions weren't radically different, it was nice to mix it up.
Genesis G70 would be nice if the price point wasn't so drastically higher here. Genesis have been consistently seeing single digit monthly sales across their whole range, but the new GV70 launched this month seems to get a lot of interest. The next year should determine if they stick around or go the way of Infiniti Australia.
That makes a lot of sense with the larger markets moving on. The Stinger production line will reportedly be used to make the Carnival hybrid.I get the impression KIA and Hyundai both want to move away from ICE's to EV's to be in business and have taken the first steps with the Stinger based on its sales decline.
Personally I don't like hybrids, part ICE part EV. The main pro of EV I find is way less moving parts / complexities and lubricants and no fuel. Oil companies are greedy monopolistic business. That makes a lot of sense with the larger markets moving on. The Stinger production line will reportedly be used to make the Carnival hybrid.
It should work in their favour to be an early local EV player with some high spec halo cars that will continue to boost brand perception. Next 5-10 years will be interesting times
