Howdy!
I've been reluctant to start another thread on the same dead and beaten horse, but I've studied a lot of these pricing discussions and thought I had a pretty aggressive yet agreeable number. I found a couple postings that suggested they were able to pick up the identical car (I think) for a similar price. So, I'm curious, based on your experience, is this a doable number and what dealers will do it? (I like fly and ride trips, and this is a perfect car for it).

Details:
Location: I'm in the USA, New England, however I'll fly to any reputable dealer who would meet my number.
Year 2020 (shrinking inventory, but should be better pricing)
Models: GT1 or GT2, both AWD
Target price - $14k under MSPR
So, GT2, AWD before taxes and other regional stuff would be $40k.
GT1 same conditions would be ~$35k

What say ye - am I mental? is this unfair to the dealer? I want it to be a win/win for the dealer too, but dealers don't know anything about their cars anyway, so you fine folks have done all the hard work educating me, all they need to do is prepare the paperwork and hand me the detonator fob. These 2020 cars have now been sitting on the lot for more than a year.

Next question - what dealers should I contact? I read a lot about Hendricks, pitched a similar number but they said they'd talk to the sales manager and get back to me and I never heard back.

What should the number be? (and I agree it's a totally amazing car and worth every bit of blah blah, but it's a commodity item and I'm not in this to create a relationship with a dealer by forking over more money than I should).

Many thanks. This forum has been such a great resource.

I am local to Hendricks and that is where I got my Stinger. They are great. They definitely were willing to deal late last year and earlier this year. At one point they had 26 Stingers on the lot. However, now they have just a handful. I don't think they are as willing to deal now. I am not so sure you can get a new AWD Stinger for $40K anymore. I had seen places like Koon's in DC advertise Stingers for $40K for AWD and $38K for RWD last year. Now the AWD cars are listed at more like $44K or $45K. It isn't a buyer's market anymore. Sales have been fairly steady for the Stinger this year.

I did see one 2018 new Stinger GT2 listed in Staten Island for $40,500. They should sell that for less than $40K. Maybe that would be your best option? Check Island Kia.

Most dealers in Northeast Ohio have 1 or 2 at this point, and some have none, and they are usually 2.0. When I got mine in April almost all had many GT, GT1, GT2, and mix of AWD and RWD. 5000 or 9000 under invoice seems low if Kia isn't offering the dealer some other incentive or they cant get it back through a trade in.

The dealers that have 2020 stingers I’ve called are only offering $2000 off MSRP and won’t budge on it as I’m trying to do the lease buyout option (but they don’t know that). It is not a buyers market right now. Might end up trying to get a CPO one but even those are slim pickings around NY. Or just get the new Mazda 3 turbo hatch hahaha

Thats pretty funny. I have new 2021's available through our Kia contact here at invoice minus incentives. His response to my disbelief was, "we're just starting the 2021, its not like they won't build more if we sell these" lol
