Poor Road Sign Recognition

This is news to me having no such problem with my Volvo - it reads anything to do with speed accurately and I assumed Stinger was the same. How do they do that then??
It too came out of a Volvo which had excellent sign recognition. The feature I loved on that car was the turning lane graphics - if you were on a four lane road (on each side) approaching a traffic light - it would tell you well in advance what lanes are turning lanes only and which ones you could go straight from -
Anyway, I digress. It is a minor disappointment that the Kia does not rely upon the camera seemingly required for the safety suite and instead relies upon a GPS system that must be updated. That being said, in my experience (which may be locality driven) the accuracy has been pretty good - albeit not flawless.

Our '16 Sorento SXL has not had any map updates since purchase in late '15 and yet the speed limit displayed always changes approx 2 sec after passing a new sign. This even occurs in areas of poor GPS signals like bottom of canyons, high trees, etc. Id have to assume the lane keep camera is picking those up.

Test driving the stinger, i was too busy monitoring redline and mph to check on this :)

I didn't think speed limits applied to us, so why do we need this feature... lol

Yes, they are pre-programmed into the GPS and not read. To read the signs would take OCR software and wouldn’t be reliable at all.

So not true!
My Audi Q7 very accurately reads road signs and displays them on the HUD - it's never read one incorrectly yet

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
