OK. Before folks start bashing me about this, let me explain. I know the hood vents are not functional in any level of the Stinger and the reason I picked silky silver is that the side vents blend in best with that color, since my goal was not to have them with that “jump out and grab you” sort of look. What are your opinions on painting the hood vents to match the car color or at least the side vent color......a different silver in my case? I’m not sure myself if I would like the look or not or even how durable the paint job would be on the plastic. I’m not sure what other top end cars the Stinger is being compared to that actually have functional black hood vents. Very happy with the car, even if only the base. It’s more care than I’ve ever owned.

Opinions? We all have one I know. Thanks for the advice. Yes, I searched this forum looking for a thread like this but did not find one.

Do what you like, who cares what people think.

You could try ordering a can of plastidip, they have all kinds of colors now to see what you like and not worry about ruining the part. If you like it, keep it or get it professionally painted. Those vents are in a spot where they won't get much abuse so any form of paint will hold up well.

Post a picture of your car from an angle that shows the hood vents well and I'll Photoshop the vents in silky silver and black. I think it would look fine...

I have pics of the vents from the backside and can send them to you later if you'd like. The hood vents are just a couple nuts under the heat shield. To remove the side vents from your car, you will have to take off the wheel and pull back the wheel well liner to access the backside of the vents. There are a few screws and retention clips holding them in place.

Probably best to remove them prior to refinishing ,you'll need to remove the hood liner and there will be a few screws per side . Plasti dip is an easy , cheap and removable DYI , a good body shop would prep , undercoat and spray the color of your choice but I would think they wont even talk to you for less than $ 250 , conversely you could paint them yourself , lots of youtube vids on how to . I'm planning to wrap mine similar to the Sema car ...........good luck :thumbup:

$250 is really high, especially for OEM plastic parts. I imagine there are some shops out there that would throw out a quote like that though. We've got a bodyshop contract here that does the vast majority of our pre-painting and the prices we've negotiated are very reasonable. I'd estimate about $50-$80 to have the set of OEM vents professionally done.
