Hey guys, I figured I’d post and see if anyone could help! Just driving to work today, a random p2564 code came up and it doesn’t reset when I shut off and restart the car! I have the jb4, and installed new denso plugs about 5000km ago, gaped to .022. Anyone have the same issue? Also, I don’t have the EWG wires

Over boost.

I was thinking along those lines, but shouldn’t it go away after restarting the car?

I thought the overboost code was usually P0234.

A P2564 trouble code indicates an abnormal reading in the turbocharger's boost control position sensor circuit. The sensors' input voltage signals, as sent to the PCM, are showing a boost level that is higher or lower than the manufacturer's specs.

Could also indicate that your boost control solenoid is out, or going out.

Yeah, it’s just also now thrown a code for p259f, I assume something is getting ready to fail or has already failed lol

Could even be the wastegate actuator, but I would try the control solenoid first.

It’s still under warranty, I assume my best plan of action would be to remove the jb4 and bring it to the dealer? Unless there’s something easy that I could try of course

Remove the JB4 and try it, then take it to the dealer.

Yeah, I just fully removed the JB4, and still no luck. Hopefully it doesn't take forever to get into the dealer to get it fixed! Thanks for the help!

@Rodtheviking So just having a look at the car, would this be the part you mentioned replacing?

; or is it this:

I only ask because I feel like I could replace these myself if for some reason my dealership has to order something in. I know the boost sensor is very easy to swap out, but I can't seem to locate the solenoid but it does look like a fairly easy swap?

Definitely looks much better where would I be looking under the hood if I wanted to try and replace this myself?
Right next to the blow off valves on the intake runner, left side of the engine bay as you are looking at it.

I can confirm I'm blind lol, I had the solenoid out and gave the contacts for the harness a spray but I don't think there's much else I can do with it. There's a store nearby that has the part in stock that I can go purchase and swap out or I can wait until Thursday to let my Kia dealership look through it....I'm almost tempted to just replace it myself. Worst case, it's not the issue and I return the part.

So I done some testing on the boost solenoid and everything seems fine. It's getting the proper resistance across it's pins (~29), and when I hooked it up to a battery, I could hear it actuate and direct air through the proper port. So I think at this point, it's looking like the wastegate actuator!

UPDATE: Turns out that it's a wiring issue with the EWG harness itself. Apparently some of the wires are frayed and they need a couple days to repair it.

Awesome! Glad they found it.

Rodent damage?

I can't imagine it was rodent damage, not something that's a huge issue here in NL! They didn't say what kind of damage though, I'll have to ask when I call back tomorrow to check in on her!

@Rodtheviking Talking to the service manager today, apparently they found that it was rubbing up against something and that caused my issues and that they are going to bring it forward to Kia as they think this is going to be an issue on other cars going forward
