3.3TT P0456 Error code

So I bought a scan tool to diagnose my CEL, and it was P0456- Evaporative Emission System Leak Detected(very small leak)
I checked my gas cap and filler neck, and noticed some rust on the lower portion of the the filler neck. Could this cause the leak? I cleaned the gas cap and filler neck with WD-40 and put more gas in, but the code remains. I can’t get in to the dealer in a timely manner due to the “KiaBoyz” breaking so many Kias. Should I try to remove the rust, or do I start buying parts? Thanks in advance!

The code won't go away by itself. You didn't state that you cleared it. Clear the code with your scanner or the JB can also read and delete CEL's. Let the gas run down below 3/4 tank. The ECU won't run a proper test on a full tank, (Ref. I/M test)

Thanks! I cleared the code, and It’s been two days without the CEL. I never cleaned the gas cap or filler neck since I bought the car new, so maybe that was the magic bullet.

Went for 3 years of dealers trying to fix this code finally I installed an afe takedavv cv open cold air intake, changed the MAF valve and disconnected the battery for a hard reset. After a few days driving the light went off and never came back. Not sure what effect the CAi had but it did change the code from a mass leak to a minor leak and after changing the MAF no more codes

i have same code also my car act stuped when i make some revs after few seconds RPM playing and go to 500 450 then it go back normall engin act like it want close,, codes saying large leak, also when im roolling and try to make pull i try to stop my foot at 4500RPM car act like it have antilag or like it Shakeing and the car go to limp mode i need to stop the engin and start agin then every thing normall, i change the purge valvebut same issue is there and i do smoke test there is leak in neack and cap. But it's possible that Leake make all this
