Hi guys, I recently bought a 2023 GT2, about to do my first oil change at 1500 miles. What kind of oil filter do you guys use? After a quick search, I'm thinking about getting WIX, is there any recommendations? Thanks in advance.

there's not much available aftermarket, since it's a cartridge filter and not a spin-on. WIX is fine. i usually just get a kia one when I need to order other parts but the wix will do.

I think I bought a 5-pk from those guys online, even with shipping, it worked out to just under $9 ea....this was about a year ago

Nice, I think i'm going with Wix after all, they are just easier to buy from amazon

I bought a dozen of the NAPA gold 100237 from fleetfilter.
I have four left, no issues with the first eight.

Wix here...usually pick it up at O'reilly's

WIX but think I'm going to switch back to OEM. I just had some major warranty work done and they cautioned me about doing my own oil changes without good records/receipts. Gave me the impression they would be pretty picky. Just to be safe, think I'll stick with OEM.

What was the problem? You got me worried about my dealer, cause my experience with them are not good at all. There is no way I will let them service my car.

Transmission was leaking which led to a transmission replacement (another topic). I found the trans leak when I was doing my oil change. When I called them about the leak and mentioned I found it while doing the oil change, service mgr cautioned me about making sure I keep good records of my oil changes b/c they had just denied a warranty engine replacement in a forte b/c the owner couldn't produce records. I think he was trying to help advise me, but it spooked me. I don't want them having anything against me should I need a major warranty repair, like an engine.

I do the scheduled changes at the dealer, and in-between ones myself. That way there's record of the car's services should something go wrong later. But yes, I cringe every time I take it to the dealer. One of the local dealers charged me a $100 diag fee and didn't fix the noise I complained about; the other racked my nephew's K5 and tried to pin the damage on him. I'm crossing county lines for my next oil change.

Yeah, that's standard faire. I would think it's less advising more spooking though; like looking for any excuse to deny a warranty claim, as stealerships are want to do.

I usually keep records and recipts anyway. I expect them to try and wriggle out of any legit warranty claim, so I try to give them no ammunition whatsoever.

Same. I'm going to start taking it to the dealer for scheduled changes so they have the records. I've want to get my WIX out of there so I'm going to do an in-betwen change myself to get a MAHLE back in it.

I bought 10x WIX from rockauto with a 5% off coupon. Ended up being $9ish per filter
