25 years I have been driving cars. Never had an incident in a parking lot ever, guess I was just lucky. Got my GT2 a week ago and since then I park as far away as I can. Had a quick stop a Noodle n Co about 30 mins ago and parked away from the crowds on the side of the building.....

Order my Mac n cheese and step over to get a drink, and could see my car from there. I could see and a lil SUV pulled up, and I could see and the back door opened hard n fast......right into the rear passenger door. I throw open the side door of Noodles and go "OH Come On.....What the HELL are you doing?!?!" Back door closes to reveal a girl, about 9 years old. She starts crying. I instantly begin apologizing to her (picturing my lil girl in the process).

Grandma (about 99 years old) finally gets out and asks what the trouble is and I am left telling her Im sorry for yelling at her poor daughter (who was actually upset, did NOT seem like an act).

What a great day!! What a great new dent, down to the bare metal. here's hoping her USAA insurance helps me out when I call em on the 'morrow.......

LOL! I shouldn't laugh! This is a horror story with humor, oh the irony. I'm so sorry for you and your car. All I can say is park farther away yet. I mean, really a lot farther away. Walking is good for the bod and soul (and our precious paint!).

I just can't believe how bad I ended up feelin for making a lil girl cry lol!! Yes, yes, walking, stinger will be a lawn ornament from now on! Well, my wife, always the optimist did think it was good that at least I saw it happen so it wasn't like walking up to finding it. Wonder if their USAA insurance will take care of me......

Not sure when it happened - but seems to me folks think kids don’t have the ability to learn... even such a thing as “respect” for OPP. Hmmmm.... NOT saying you yelling at anyone fixed anything - but I AM saying that 9 year old damn well could have KNOWN better and been cautious... especially if parking grandma helped remind her. Truth is - most folks don’t really care. It’s just money (your money!). i speak for myself here - but I must have lucked out. My children seemed to understand and practice that one - which has somehow lasted into their adult lives. Good luck with your insurance!!! AND - no matter where you park.... they’ll find ya. You can do only so much. db

My 4 year old daughter is getting real good at making sure she doesn't hit "daddy's car". She's already hit it once, leaving a small ding, in the learning process. I sheepishly admit I even put a small ding in the door on accident when i opened the door for my daughter. Didn't even think I touched the door that hard either.

I wouldn't even drive my Stinger. Just keep it in the garage and admire it. Drive the daily rust bucket if you absolutely have to go where the walking dead roam.

As they say, you can park elsewhere but you can’t hide! It’s Murphy’s law that you can park miles away and some one will come and park right next to you, same as opening a door and denting your car. I hope the repair is done well and you feel better.

Literally the first day I had my Stinger I needed a Costco stop for some items. Parked at the very outside of the lot with one other car near by. I come out and there is a freaking shopping cart up against my front bumper. Luckily no damage or scratch but seriously people suck.

I wonder how well PPF would prevent door dings.

I like to take spots next to handicapped spots because they're wider and rarely occupied. Nearly lost that gamble this weekend at Whataburger when an old guy opened his door full lock and missed my stinger by 1/4". Watched it happen at maximum pucker.

Lesson learned, my stinger lives in the back of the lot now.

Erm....that would defeat the point of owning it imo. I keep my autographed Jordan jersey in the house to admire, I keep my Stinger on the road, in the lot, out n about so....that others may admire.

I've been very fortunate thus far in the Stinger regarding parking lot incidents.

In my Mustang, I very distinctly remember going for lunch with a former colleague and thus not parking a million miles away from the restaurant. I parked in front of the restaurant next to a black Audi Q5. Not the most cheap vehicle, so they must care about it, right? I came out to find a large ding just behind the driver side door and the Audi nowhere to be seen. You know, the kind of ding that the offender undoubtedly was not only aware they created, but consciously chose to flee the scene. That was a wonderful 150 dollar lunch...but the ding did come out with a pro's PDR effort. Still, could have been a 10 dollar lunch.

I hate to stereotype, but around here (Silicon Valley), Q5 is the "slightly better off soccer mom minivan" replacement. That and X3 is what you see a BUNCH of for school dropoff in the mornings, along with MDX, Highlander, CX-5, etc. Pretty sure 80%+ are leased. I'll leave my rant about the kind of insane driving antics I see during dropoff for some other time..

It’s somewhere on here, I’ll have to jump on my laptop to link ya.

It was trash. Parked at a grocery store. Looks like somebody cut the wheel backing up and tagged my bumper. No sheet metal damage thankfully but a scuffed bumper.

It’s not too noticeable, but I know it’s there.

They also know what they did...
