This is probably a stretch, but does anyone have the wiring diagram for the OEM remote start system? I want to keep the car running when I open the door, and I'm thinking I can modify it to do so if I know how its wired. Maybe. I'm an electrical engineer, so I have knowledge on my side. Sometimes that does more harm that good though .

And no, I will not purchase an aftermarket remote start!

Would that be in the shop manual?

Consider what would happen if the controller did not get the signal that a door was opened: while the engine would probably not turn off, would it permit the car to shift into gear? I'm going to check that out-- this topic may not be too complicated-- but who knows!

I've read that some Subaru owners have defeated this problem quite simply. The Kia system permits the fob to UNLOCK the car but not open the door . . . surely there is more to the system than the door-- could one crawl in an open window and drive?-- One needs the logic diagram. The remote start will not work unless the doors/hatch are LOCKED. If you enter the car with the fob, you can start the car; but you can't open the door without the fob (ok, you could use the physical key), so why shut down . . .

I hope you figure something out.

looks like my shop manual version did not have the remote start. found the bush button start and everything except the remote start.

Just put aftermarket remote start. Stays running. Compustar.

From looking at the service manual, it appears to me that since the Start button on the dash is simply a computer input - and then a whole lot of sensors and computer program determine states and if conditions met, starts the car. The OEM remote start works off the fob and is simply another input to the computer. As such, there really isn't a schematic, beyond the starting schematic and the logic sequence. If the goal is to alter the program so the car doesn't stop when you open the door, I think it is unlikely that would be an available choice deep in the preferences in the 'engineering mode'. Perhaps someone with a tuner and lots of experience and smarts could achieve it - but it won't involve simply clipping a wire somewhere or otherwise tricking a sensor.

Yeah its looking a lot more complex than I had hoped. I'm not willing to break something for this

Thanks for looking! Kia couldn't make it an easy mod

Sir, I'd like to point you to the last line of the first post -_-

You do realize that the oem one is an aftermarket add on.. it isn’t an actual kia piece.. yes you can order it through a dealer but it is made by a 3rd party company.. that’s why the remote that comes with looks exactly like a compustar remote

That piece of information, while probably correct, doesn't change or help anything here o_O. The point was, I already have it in my car, so I'm not spending the money and going through the headache of uninstalling it and installing another one.

If the fobs that came with a Stinger are not the standard normal Stinger fobs but are special because of the remote start - then the remote start is not OEM. They may be dealer installed, but not OEM. The OEM remote start works just fine from the standard fob.

OEM remote start works with standard fob. Remote that comes with offer longer range.

this is what i found.
Could some please explain to me what the SSB sw1 and SSB sw2 wires are?. When I brought my Kia second hand these wires were cut from behind the start button. It is an ex police vehicle so just wondering what those two wires are for? Thankyou
