Hey guys, I've had my stinger for about a year. I'm not a tinkerer so I haven't been under the hood. But I opened it the other day to refill windshield fluid and noticed these two things
The only time someone could've been under the hood since I got this car is when I took it into the dealership (Carpros Kia of Glendale, CA) and had them do the 20v-518 recall fix (HECU malfunction.)

Question to you lovely people: Does anybody know if that recall repair would've affected this wiring and insulation? Is this shoddy worksmanship? or is it cheap materials that wore down only after a year ?!?! OR could this be the work of a very nefarious squirrel or some other critter (that foam looks like it was chewed on.)

My concern is, is this dangerous in any way? should I look into new insulation? the wires underneath (though insulated individually) are exposed. And if so can I get the dealer to fix this?

Thank you for any insight.

Welcome. Looks like animal/pest damage to me. But it very well could have been Kia workers.

That recall is primarily on the passenger side so likely not related. Looks like rodent damage to me also. Check your cabin air filter. They like to build nests on it. You can see it by removing the fuse box cover on the passenger side and pushing in on the rubber behind the fuse box.

Id run with rodents as well. Unfortunately its a issue discussed here at random

Ah I see. Welp, almost preferred human incompetence. Haha. Thanks all.

Hey i had my ride a Week! and had to have a new harness put in because of a rat enjoying my coil wires as a snack. Best bet is opening the hood a lil more. There is a repellent you can spray on exposed wires and so on under the hood that will help. Ill have to find that thread and pass it on if you want?

@Cosmo That's not duct tape. It's Tech Flex and electrical tape. the Tech Flex is chewed up by some sort of rodent and frayed.
