No Radar Install DIY?

Hopefully I'm missing something; but, surprisingly, I can't find a radar install DIY???

I’ve got one. Didn’t think to do a DIY. I followed the wireless charger DIY to get the center console apart. Mounted the control about where the charger goes. I tapped the 12v plug at the fuse box. I didn’t use a mount under the mirror because it blocked too much of my view so I mounted it to the glass on the passenger side of the mirror

I have an Escort Passport 8500 that is mounted to the left of the rear view mirror. I ran the wire under the headliner and down the outter edge of the A pillar to the fuse box. You don’t have to remove the A pillar cover as you can wedge the wire under the edge of the trim (towards the door) and all the way down to the fuse box and in behind it. I then tapped a spare 20 amp fuse that only powers on with ignition.

Note that the fuses are micro fuses so you’ll need the right size fuse tap.

Yeah, I just installed mine today. I used one of those Add-a-Fuse thingies to tap into the "Charger" fuse socket for power, and pulled off the end panel of the dash to get to a ground source. That's the bugger ... finding a ground source under that dash is a bear, so that's why I pulled the end panel.

I like to mount my detectors on the far left side of the dash, partially hidden by the license sticker and in easy reach. I fabbed a simple "V" mount out of aluminum flat stock I got at Home Depot, which I spray painted black and attached Velcro to. More Velcro to the side of the instrument binnacle and the detector itself, and it was mounted. As for the power cord, I simply let it dangle the few inches down to where it could slip into the steering wheel housing and out of sight. Not terribly elegant, but not as bad as you might think. I could have hidden it under some of the trim, I suppose, but I didn't want to risk damaging the cord or the trim.

BTW, I did re-route the power cable to the right side of the detector so it wasn't so obvious.
