Hello all. I am new to the group. I have seen this group when searching for random Kia Stinger discussions about common issues seen during building out our Stingers. My 23 Kia Stinger GT2 AWD Grand Tourer is FBO and tuned on e67. Now that I am done with the performance mods I set out to complete, I have turned my attention to other things. I purchased a used CK71 fog kit from a guy on socials who bought the kit new and installed it on his and then traded his in for a BMW.

The shop that has done all my performance work flawlessly couldn't figure how to wire them in properly considering the instructions are for GT1 and GT@ without active headlights. In fact, the instructions mention emailing them if we had a 22 or 23 with active headlights for which they'd send instructions. Their number is out of service and they haven't responded to either my or the shop owner's email.

I do know my way around wiring, but do not have the ability because I have almost zero feeling in my hands which poses a challenge with attempting to wire small guage wire.

If anyone can help me with a wiring diagram for the active headlights or know specifically which wire the power and signal should be wired to side per side, please chime in. The frustrating part is they are wired, but not correctly. The DRL (white) burn every time the car is on. Howevever, it pops the 10A fuse that controls the active headlights, bun and vent swith, turn signals, and of course the active headlights. I do feel that the shop may have wired eithe the power and or the signals to the wrong wire.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up. I'm glad you found us. Just letting you know that this topic has been moved out of the community lounge and into the Stinger Lighting forum. :)

I also updated the title so that people who can help will click through and read your message. To note, this isn't like other forms of social media where people come in and scroll through hundreds of discussions. Here, people scroll through topic titles and click on those with subject matter they have interest in.

Let me know if you are still looking for a solution with this, maybe I can help.

Welcome to the forum

Sounds like you already got a pretty good head start on mods.

Getting repairs on the Ck71 lights can be tricky since you need someone local who can do it.

I don't know if you are interested in getting something that can replace them but there are other lighted options out there.

We have the LED Devil Light Canards, which install in the same grille section as the CK71's but have the classic aero canard style to it.

I'm not the person you were replying to, but have a related issue I'm hoping you can help with.

Noticed the other day when behind another car that my drivers side DRLs seem to have failed. The 'parking' lights on the same headlight work just fine, it's only the daytime DRLs that are not working. I took the wheel off and poked around behind the bumper and the connector looked fine.

What's concerning is that since then the turn signal on the same side has been giving me issues with intermittent hyperflashing and 'Check turn signal' warning on the dash. Weirdly, it seems to be able to be 'fixed' by turning the hazards on and off again which clears the warning and stops the hyperflashing for a little while. But I haven't been able to replicate the issue consistently enough to see why that's the case.

I asked a dealer tech to do a quick inspection on it when I had the car in for service, but he couldn't find any headlight or wiring damage. I didn't ask him to go any further since I didn't want to tack on a diagnostic fee.

Once the weather warms up a little I'm hoping to do some continuity checks to determine if it's the headlight itself or something else, but I'm not all that handy with wiring and troubleshooting electronics so any help would be appreciated!

Good day, question time.

1) So you have the CK71s specifically? How did you connect them to your headlight wiring?

2) Are we calling the white strip in the stinger headlight the DRL? I refer to those that way, for example when you want to manually turn the rear taillight(s) or bar on during the day (not automatic by the light sensor) then we switch the stack off of auto and to the DRL symbol. Also, when doing this at night we lose the low beams that would have been switched on automatically by the daylight sensor change of state.

This is to say that typically we use this 'DRL' input (manual or automatic, depending on the switch stack position) to enable lower fog lights.

3) You're saying the switchback white light failed on one side but not the headlight strip, right?

I think partial/intermittent shorting, (wiring/electronic damage ) or load imbalance can cause the hyperflashing.

I believe if you lost effective signal or ground continuity in one of the headlights it could cause hyperflashing in the other - if you used jacket piercing/cutting splices to make connections and the wire was damaged in the process it could cause this kind of failure down the line because the (now) exposed stranded wires inside of the jacket degrade quicker due to oxidation and moisture ingress.

My thoughts so far.

1) Ck71s aren’t installed (yet). I’m hoping to solve this issue before I do. When I do install I have bespoke plug and play harnesses ready; no taps required.

2) Correct, the two LED strips in the driver side headlight is what I’m referring to as the DRL.

It only fails when lights are in AUTO, parking brake off, and the sensor thinks it’s daytime; AKA in their ‘bright’ mode.

However if it’s at night it works just fine in its ‘dimmed’ mode with the headlights on.

3) The turn signal I’m referring to is the one integrated into the headlight itself, not the CK71s.

Oh ok, I see. This is all to do with the headlight - I assumed you were having a post modification issue.

Before getting a service done I would unplug the connector and hit it with filtered shop air if you have it. Then use no residue contact cleaner on the connector and try it again.

Seems more like a faulty headlight.

I wish we could swap in something more factory from an existing model.

I've gone through 2 sets of lights, they just don't appear to like automatic washes.

Had the CK1s and the cheaper ones from eBay. Neither are working at this point.
