Hello everyone!

I just got a notice for an open recall [ SC196A NEW FUSE KIT IN JUNCTION BOX ] listed as [ Manufacturer Safety Recall Campaign issued ] for my 2020 Stinger GT RWD via Carfax but nothing in my email nor physical mail.

Thoughts please? Other recalls I or my family have received have always come either in physical mail or through an email.

Thank you all!

just got the notice on carfax and on my owners.kia.com portal for our 2020 indigo. Scheduled the recall for monday they said they are ordering the vin specific parts and it should be here friday, we shall see!. Generally physical mail is delayed as they send them out staggered.. it was about 8 months after we got the digital notice on carfax/bmw recall website for the takata airbag that we started getting the physical mail for the recall.

Wow crazy timing!

I wonder who else got the notice on CarFax or Kia-Owner-Portal today?

Update: I went to [ NHTSA | National Highway Traffic Safety Administration ] to search my vehicle by VIN and it showed me that this recall was issued back in December 2020. Why would I not get an email, physical letter, or notification until today and from CarFax of all places? Why not an email from any of the dealerships or Kia directly?

I am on the phone right now with my local dealership to have this recall repair scheduled as soon as possible.

I am still stunned that it would take this long. I remember the other recalls we got physical mail and it was only a few weeks delayed.

Is your recall the same as mine?

Keep me posted btw! Thank you! :)

Back in early '19, when I went in for an oil change and scheduled maintenance, the service guy said that my car had not as yet received the transmission logic "reflash", which was a known issue, and did I want that done? I said no thanks, and, "If it ain't broke don't mess with it." Had I not read of it on the forum that would have been news to me. I never did get a notification via Kia or email or snail mail; nothing. And last week when I checked my VIN it showed no TSB orders for my car. So, clearly there are cyberspace-sized cracks in communications.

There is likely a letter on the way. It’s the HECU recall that initially only impacted 2019 3.3 Stingers. Those letters went out late in 2020. They’ve now very recently extended that recall to other model years which most of us saw coming, same engine, same fuse box wiring, same HECU module.

This is why the recall shows that it began in December 2020. It did but Kia being Kia in their wisdom only included cars that had caught fire, 2019s. Hyundai/Kia are infamous at doing this. Issuing a recall but not including model years/vehicles that share the same specs. They’ve been sued for that in the US.

I haven’t gotten any mail but when I put my VIN, it is included in the recall. Called a dealership and mine is scheduled next Thursday for a fix. They have to order the parts though. Time to take off intakes and JB4.

Yeah I triple checked all physical mail, my Kia Portal, and other emails. Only CarFax had it up but after manually checking online I saw the recall. I have an appointment later today. Hopefully they can take care of it in under three hours lmfao... The lady told me it should take between 60 to 90 minutes but my experience is to normally double that quoted time with Kia service lmfao!

Good luck everyone! :D

I mean... I called yesterday morning to schedule my appointment today... I would be stunned if they created an appointment for me and did not have the kit... but knowing my luck (and this being a Kia) I am going to waste three hours of my work day going to the dealership just to be told they don't actually have it (after waiting for probably half an hour while they bring the car in) and to come back another time... lmfao... I hope not though...

seeing some other's experiences on here, some were called in just to be told they have to order... I was prepared when i called and i asked if it was something they had to order... they put me on hold for a min then came back and was like.. oh you that's right.. we can have it by next week.. Maybe call before you go and sit for 3 hours?

Yep, wise advice here. They are totally going to just look at your car and then realize they have to order the part.

Just checked my VIN and nothing on the NHTSA site...yet.

For some reason it does specify cars without smart cruise control which I think gt1 has? Maybe they are just rolling it out to prevent a massive influx of demand on the parts and dealers.or the scc system is different

I called 4 Kia dealerships regarding the hecu recall.
Kia Hilltop- sorry Kia website is down.
Kia Concord- the lady had no clue what was going on
Kia Oakland- backlogged up to 3 weeks
Kia Marin- ordered my kit parts and scheduled for next Thursday. Finally!

That is why I hate Kia brand but like this car. My Audi and BMW had recalls too but the dealers were the one who contacted me to schedule a recall fix.

I did not catch the smart cruise control part and yes the GT1 has it.

Hah. "My" Kia service center has always come in under the quoted repair time. The universe is in balance. :P

When I had the HECU recall, it was a total fiasco. From this forum, I knew they had to order the parts, so when I asked about it, they said they would order the parts. Several calls over three weeks to verify if the parts were in, and when they finally said they were, I scheduled to have it done.
Upon going to the dealer at my scheduled appointment time, and dropping it off, they said they would call when it was done. To my surprise, they called about an hour later which I though was strange because I had heard it takes about 2 hours. When I got back to the dealer, only then did they inform me that they just inspected it and that now they had to order the parts. I said that the parts were already supposed to be there, I had called to make sure. The service writer checked with the parts guy said they had no parts order for my car. I was pretty upset (I have to travel about 1.5 hours each way to get to a dealer). After complaining more, they checked again and said there was a kit that was ordered for another customer, but they never came back to have the work done, so they used it on mine, but now I had to wait another 2 hours for them to do it.
So the bottom line is to insist that the parts are on hand before going in. I really don't understand why they don't just stock a few kits at all times. From another post on this forum, someone ordered the kit themselves and it was under $10. I would think that customer satisfaction is worth way more than $10 to them.

Pretty ridiculous. The kit is under $6 and I’m sure would cost a Dealer even less than that.

I called on the 24th (Wednesday morning) and immediately scheduled my appointment for the 25th (Thursday) early afternoon around lunch time. I confirmed with them twice (secretary who got the phone and then the manager) that they had the proper resources and parts to perform the recall.

I must have horrible luck because it took them over four hours... closer to five hours... I was originally quoted 90 to 120 minutes... then after the two hour mark I was told "just another half an hour" and then after that period of time passed I was told "as soon as possible, they're wrapping up". Ridiculous.

Thankfully I was able to get the majority of my work for the day completed on my phone but what a complete joke. I am told over the phone it shouldn't take more than two hours. I am told in person it shouldn't take more than two hours. I even got to my appointment 20 minutes early. They brought my car into the garage on the dot... why it took them four hours is beyond me. The car was in their garage for over three hours, then I saw them bringing it out, and suddenly made a U-turn and brought it back into the garage. Another hour and a half passed before they brought it back out.

What the hell were they doing in there? They're offering me free bagels, chips, soda, coffee, juice, and other garbage snacks... I just want to understand what the heck was taking so long...

At least they washed the car on the outside and sprayed the inside with something nice. Morons.

Each time I had to bring in my car to any Kia dealership it took significantly more time than quoted. I really don't understand it. Must be my luck in New York and Florida... although I am not the only Kia owner who seems to experience these issues...

It's Kia... they don't strategize or plan for long-term success with customer bases. I like the Stinger... I have huge respect for the car... even after my endless brake problems... but the bigger problems are the backwards dealerships... If I bought a $15k Soul instead of a $50k Stinger then I would not be complaining...

That's good!! so far my experience has only been oil changes at the dealer and those have been under 30 min... they told me 60 min for this procedure.... i hope it's not 4 hours !! I will be taking my computer and working but i would rather not sit there for that long :D
