Fairly new to the forum and been a lurker since the beginning but my Borla I ordered just got delivered and having it installed by a buddy on Thursday morning. Anything I should know or tips I can pass along for install? He’s quite capable, full garage and hoist.

Straight forward with a lift and full set of sockets.

Make sure when he puts the mid pipe on, they wrestle to ensue it doesn’t touch the cross brace.

Enjoy!

I attempted to do the install on a couple of ramps. Was going to take me 6 hours of annoyance for a bigger guy. I took it to a shop and they put it on for $150 if I recall. Borla will have a bit of drone at certain RPM's I do suggest getting exhaust tips that will push the resonance out past the diffuser. You can buy them at several places online. My personal experience with Aliexpress has been horrible so I would use that at your own risk. There is an exhaust tip thread here somewhere that will discuss sizes needed for Borla tips. If you go with oval tips there is no trimming needed. If you go with round tips (which I think look better) you do have to trim some of the diffuser so the tips don't touch the plastic.

When you first have the Borla installed don't be discouraged if it sounds a bit tinny, it will deepen as you drive it more and then it will sound amazing. Be careful with cold starts in the early morning haha. ENJOY!

Thanks folks, appreciate the input. I will most certainly be looking for tips. Excited for tomorrow :)

Just installed the Borla on my car about 3 weeks ago. It's freakin great. Sounds amazing. A bit of a drone right at 2k rpm but I kinda like it. To anyone who is thinking of doing this install themselves.. if you drive your car in the winter I would do this sooner than later. Installed mine at 33k miles and after two Ohio winters. The bolts coming off the cats were pretty rusted and I had to hit them with a torch to get them to bust loose. Other than that it was pretty straight forward. After everything was in place I felt the exit pipes were sitting too high in the exhaust tips so I put a couple of spacers in the hangers to lower the mufflers down just a tad and center the pipes in the tips. (OCD). Well worth the money.

So... Borla S Type went in today :) My buddy had some issues installing it, the right middle pipe seemed messed from when it was manufactured almost as if it was bent wrong- left one went in perfect and lined up perfectly. The right one ( when aligned to match the left ) was pressing against the bottom of the car when the left one had about 1.5 - 2 inches of space. He was able to get it to sit but it’s not on a hanger as the hanging arm ( or whatever it’s called ) attaches to the middle pipe does not match up. Idk... calling Borla tomorrow. Maybe the piece was welded or bent wrong when manufactured?? Anyone have this issue?

For now, the right muffler sits a little skew but it’s all he could do.

It’s sounds amazing BTW... sick tone to it. I noticed my gas mileage the dash gives me has gone up quite a bit.. was at 11.2L per 100km and now it reads 16.6 - is this normal?

Dumb comment, but, if I remember correctly the two mid pipes are different sizes and side specific, are they on the correct side? Also, while you tighten down the clamps to secure everything in place I had to twist the pipes as I tightened the clamps to make sure there was properly clearance and fitment once it was all buttoned up.

Here’s some pics I snapped..

You have to twist the pipe when you tighten down the clamps so they sit straight and where you want them. Might take two people. I had to twist both the mid and the muffler assembly to get them to line up right

Hey Mikey... yah. Even checked multiple times lol - never thought Though to switch up the left or right ( maybe the stickers were put on wrong but the left side was absolutely perfect ) . There was lots of adjusting trying to get it right and still no bueno.

Yea when I twisted mine, one person had to twist and hold them in place while I tightened the clamps or they would move right back to the original position, took some effort.

Lost of twisting and turning done but nothing would allow it to line up. Both of us were under there... he said he is fairly confident the pipe hanger was either welded wrong or the pipe was bent wrong ( cause the polyphonic tubes weren’t lining up either when the hanger was put where it should be placed.

When we did twist the right one so it was a decent space between the frame and pipe there was a ton of stress on the front pipe so he didn’t want to leave it like that... the left one was boom and in - but there was a significant amount of stress on the front pipes. Idk... it is possible it came messed from manufacturing no? Who knows... it was frustrating... but it does sound pretty mint now just need to sort this out and I’ll be a happy camper

Actually just remembered... when it was lined up perfectly ( front to back with poly tubes matching, sitting in hanger properly and muffler / tailpipe in place the pipe was pressed against the frame extremely tight - not hanging with any clearance.. it would have installed fine but it was so right to the frame - see pic ( this was when it was all installed and lined up ) - no amount of twisting would solve it.... we tried numerous times.

Just spoke with Borla... Sent pics and they confirmed it is likely an issue with manufacturing and will send a new mid pipe.... so phew. I thought I was going crazy for a moment. Thanks for assistance @MikeysGT appreciated!
