Hey y’all, I bought the M&S duckbill spoiler, and meticulously cleaned my deck lid and spoiler before applying the included 3M tape, but it is already lifting at the edges just a month or so after application, as pictured below. Additionally, I don’t like the space it creates between the lid and the spoiler, since the spoiler on its own appears to fit perfectly flush. Am I the only one experiencing this?

I am contemplating pulling it off and reapplying it with JB weld Plastic binder or 3M trim glue. I love the look of the spoiler so I am fine with a permanent fixation, as I understand these are long-term solutions that my paint may not recover from. And, I imagine that this will fix the gap created by the double sided tape. I also understand, however, that epoxy can be messy and is unforgiving.

My one concern is that my ceramic coat is interfering with the tape, and that it will create problems with an epoxy as well. Has anyone else had any luck applying these body parts with something other than the 3M?

Suggest you look for Adhesion Promoter for 3M Tape wherever you are located:
This is how it looks:

You are welcome...

I used the promoter and mine hasn’t popped up

Hey y’all, I bought the M&S duckbill spoiler, and meticulously cleaned my deck lid and spoiler before applying the included 3M tape ...

that is your problem - the double-sided tape that is included with most accessories is crap. get some REAL 3M tape.

my process for the rear spoiler on my previous car ...
- clean bottom of spoiler and trunk lid VERY GOOD with rubbing alcohol
- apply adhesion promoter to bottom of spoiler
- put the 3M tape on spoiler and fit to trunk lid
- get a towel/blanket to protect the spoiler and trunk lid, put some type of weight on it (i used dumb bell weights), and let it sit for 24-48 hours

my spoiler has been attached for almost 3 years and isn't moving ... AT ALL! LOL

Mine has been a challenge. I’m on the third install and the leading edge is lifting across pretty much the whole thing. But only when it’s out in the sun. Sitting in the underground it looks/ feels like it’s on there solid. I’ve alcohol clean top bottom inside out, 3M adhesive promoted up the ying yang. The freaking thing keeps lifting and yes in different spots each time. Time for me to part out or go deck- lid.

lol, yep ... went from "always looks clean" Graphite Shadow to a black Stinger. i never learn ...

Imo, kad is the best color. It's not too dark, not too bright, just the right amount of 'gray'. Very boring/bland, doesn't stick out. I miss that color. The stinger's ceramic gray is sort of close, but it's just not the same.

I will never buy a black car period. They're great when clean, but i'm past the age of trying to keep the color spot less at all times. I just washed it this weekend. Last was was back in early august.

Exact same here, last wash was about a month ago before finally caving yesterday. Life's too short to be obsessed over such things.

Looking at it a little while ago, it's already 'dirty' with some dust/pollen/airborne crap collecting on it. lol

lol, i alternate ... black, get pissed off with it, then silver or gray, then black ... rinse and repeat. at least graphene and ceramic spray coatings help out a bit now. the G37xS coupe i had before i needed a break with the Q60 ... those Forgestar wheels might go on the Stinger ... 20170522_145918.webp

That Scotch Extreme Tape is pretty good product. I had some proper 3M for my radar detector mount and it eventually fell off. The Scotch product doesn't budge at all, taking it off was a pain in the ass, quite frankly.

Many years ago I mounted a spoiler on my Acura TL. I used the 3M tape supplied and I was meticulous about the prep & mounting-- it started to come loose in just a few months.

I removed it cleaned the spoiler and car and mounted the spoiler with E6000 adhesive (clear). It never once exhibited any sign of failure in the next 8 years when I sold the car.

I have mounted (& removed) other spoilers with E6000 also. The good thing is that you can remove any object you mount with E6000 and remove the cured adhesive from the paint with NO damage to the finish-- it's NOT easy and NO chemical solvents are needed-- you can rub & peel it off completely.

Ok. I’ll give it a try, where do I find this E6000 stuff pls?

I have the exact same problem right now. What did u end up using to get it to stay? I have the same spoiler and my car is ceramic coated too

I have tried the adhesion promoter because I had some extra 3M and it’s better but still coming up on the edges in the sun. Waiting for the warmer weather in early spring to pull it off and polish out any residue. Going to try the scotch extreme for remounting the spoiler and my front lip. Hesitant to use an epoxy or liquid adhesive.

Had leftover 3M tape so I reapplied with the adhesion promoter. Still coming up on edges in sunlight. Going to reapply with the scotch extreme when the weather is nicer so I can polish the deck lid. I’m hesitant to use any liquid adhesive or epoxy

I've had no issues with the red 3m tape but the black stuff that comes with most accessories is garbage.
Mind you, I have not used it on the exterior of my car but it sticks like shat to a blanket everywhere I've used it.
