Hey everyone!

So i know it's been discussed a bunch of different way, but the information is spread out and I need specific answers. We all know the stingers are criminally quiet, so i'm trying to get louder. I heard 2 different muffler deletes on youtube and they both sound like what i'm looking for. (ill be adding DPs soon) I know there are ways to reduce drone. I've seen people post about wrap, welds, adding exhaust tips, etc. Should I keep the cat and res or just the res? or keep both and just get rid of the muffler. Anyone that has done a muffler delete on their 3.3 and can add some input that would be greatly appreciated! thanks!

Get rid of the cat for more burbles and stuff. The resonator is there for drone. The mufflers are there to make it should like a Accord. Honestly I was not happy with my muffler cutouts so I got a Borla. Much happier now.

I've said this before and I'll say it again. A muffler delete on a stinger is a terrible idea. Youtube videos don't tell the whole story. It sounds great from the outside. But it's a horrible experience inside the car. I had SSR muffler deletes and nothing else for 2 days and I had to change back to stock. I've never experienced drone like that before. It gave me headaches. Everything in the car vibrated like crazy and for sure would have cause things to become worn and loose quickly.

Some people say they like their muffler deletes, but I (and everyone who I took for a ride in my car) thought it was a horrible decision. My advice would be to get a good cat back and see what that does for you. If you want more sound, add downpipes.

I've had an MBRP cat back for almost 2 years now and I love it

muffler delete/stright pipe will make it really obnoxious in the cabin especially for any passengers - very few may be ok with it but most that have tried in the past end up reverting back given noise and vibrations
1500-2000rpm will be unbearable imo that is the rpm range that is the worst especially since that is the typical highway cruising rpm range for our car
around town you'll prob be able to deal w it, but on a multi hour highway trip you'll prob regret it

downpipes (i.e. secondary downpipes or midpipes) and stock exhaust will make it deeper and a bit louder vs stock
stock downpipes + aftermarket exhaust will be louder vs stock
downpipes + aftermarket exhaust even louder than the above 2 setups --- for me this is the setup where the burbles came in when letting off the gas
then you have straight pipes will be loudest and most vibes

Everyone has different preference but i first put in ssr downpipes w stock, then ssr downpipes w aftermarket
finally decided to remove ssr downpipes (which i will sell in near future), so now just have stock downpipes and aftermarket exhaust with cutouts that i can open/close and am happy with this combo
no longer obnoxious during highway cruising in that 1500-2000rpm range

For the borla did you just get the muffler or the entire cat back?

I got a res and muffler delete and it sounds great I love it I don’t get much drone at all unless i’m in sport and even then it’s not that bad. Muffler delete sounds meh depending on who it is but cmon why have a bad sounding tt v6

Which cutouts do you have and where are they in the setup?

In this post back in June 2021, Coldbread mentioned the Stinger's "active exhaust functionality." I can't find much/any more discussion of it. I posted my question and pictures here. Does anyone have any current experience with the exhaust valves? I just want the the exhaust sound to be like "Sport" mode all the time.

Sorry it took so long to reply. Haven’t logged in in a while. The MBRP sounds really good. It’s on the tamer side, but it’s still far from stock. Minimal drone, no vibrations, and you don’t need aftermarket exhaust tips to quiet it down inside. I liked it a lot when I had it.

Muffler delete is definitely cheaper than spending $1000 on any exhaust and even then they do not sound all that. I cut off my muffler, added tips, and put some sound deafening pads in the spare tire area and my drone is pretty tame. I spent no more than $300.

I have just refitted my stock primary dump pipes and secondary cats after 2yr's but have a TORK Motorport resonator tube, into a stock bimodal exhaust and i think it sounds wicked and it doesn't feel any slower than when i was catless, except now i don't blow oil smoke on deceleration !!

I did a muffler delete during summer of Covid. Coming up on 5 years, and still like it, a lot.

I only replaced the section you can UNBOLT from the rear of the exhaust.

The SUPER important part is that you have TIPS welded to your exhaust. Do NOT use the factory tips. I have owned cars with drone, this is NOT one of them. I call people all the time in my car, and I can hear them just fine.

For the price of tips (which you can reuse on that fancy MBRP exhaust) and $150 to have some pipes welded up, I say you should try it out first.

Hey mate,
Any chance you have a video of how this setup sounds? I'm not real sold on the sound of most of the aftermarket systems available. The jonny tig exhaust sounds alright but its expensive and probably overkill for my level of mods.
