I've been checking their site on and off for the past several weeks, and finally see that they've released 13.5 for the Canadian market.

As the U.S. release was quite some time ago and the North America map should be the same, I hope that they have taken this extra time to correct the feature they broke in the the last Canadian released version 13.0 - the integrated voice search function from the dedicated button on the rear view mirror.

If someone either applies the new Canadian 13.5 update or receives it on a new vehicle, please advise if the voice destination search is once again working.

So how does one go about getting the update.

If your software was out of date when you bought the car, call Kia Canada to arrange for a one-time complimentary 'get current' update. Otherwise, it's a pricey update at 200 USD.

Do you know what's really involved in this update service to charge USD200? Seems awfully expensive if it's just loading the downloaded update to a SD card and plug it back in.

The combined update includes any changes and/or feature enhancements to the HU and navigation firmware/software, as well as the updated NA maps. The MNSoft site lists the software changes as well as new numbers for the map upgrade - e.g. number of POI's, gas stations, banks, etc.

Some manufacturers build the nav and map update costs into the price of the car, some price them separately - KIA does the latter. You need to review the changes and decided if an upgrade is worth the cost.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Can upgrades be skipped? Like skip two then apply the third?

Absolutely - they're not a rolling update, each new version is fully self-contained.

Myself, I'm staying at 12.5 until my maps are either badly out of date for the local roads (and we are building them at a pretty rapid pace around here), or until some 'must have' feature update is released for the HU software.
