I’ll probably have to get tires soon and was wanting to get some opinions. Currently running stock setup - 225 & 255 in the rear, 19in rims with Primacy Tours.

What is the differences in the primacy tour and pilot sport? I prefer comfort over performance so which ever is more quiet. Or if it’s not that drastic and I would get better performance then sure I’ll upgrade to the pilot sport…I don’t go that crazy other than some spirited driving on public roads.

Or maybe y’all have a better experience with tires? Definitely don’t want to lose performance so if that’s the case than I would stick with the primacy tour.

Also I’m a newb at tires/wheels, so what would happen if I wanted to go with a square setup? Would it be as simple as rocking 255 everywhere or 245 everywhere? Or is that when spacers come in to play. Maybe is it best to keep the staggered setup?

Thanks for any suggestions. This is my first “sporty” car so i’m new to all this… so thanks for the patience if this seems like basic questions.

Much appreciated!

Can't comment on the sizes, but if you value handling, go with the pilot sport all seasons. We had some type of primacy tire on a car years ago (grand prix). About as good as a round sponge.

Go with Pilot Sport AS

Remember that the OEM Pilot Sport is a SUMMER only tire. That is, if you live somewhere that has average temperatures below 45F in the winter, then you would want a second set of tires for the winter if you go with the Pilot Sport. That said, if you live somewhere with significant winter weather, I wiuld encourage you to get a second set of wheels with winter tires. How aggressive that tire needs to be greatly depends on how much snow and ice you get. The Primacy is made primarily for milage and longevity and not handling. I have noticed that the Pilot Sport 4S tires that I run when it isn't winter are quieter on the highway than the stock Primacy tires were. I can't comment on the Pilot A/S as I've never used them.

judging by your title, i' assuming you mean the pilot sport a/s 4 tires , not the pilot sport summers. That's what i currently upgraded to from my primacy tour a/s tires and to me, they are better in every way except wear. Overall they seem quieter than the primacy's were except for a slight resonance around 60mph that i can notice that wasn't there with the primacy's.. not bad, just enough for me to notice.

I was not a continental tire fan until the most recent extremecontact dws06 plus tires came out recently which i decided to try on our z4 since it got test results neck and neck with the pilot sport a/s 4 tires while being slightly cheaper and having slightly better treadwear. I'm loving it on the z4 and may try them on the stinger next as i'm due for some tires on the stinger.

You'll find a lot of threads on this topic (past and recent) using the search tool. The poll is a good start though, it's sending you in the right direction.

Just checking in to see what tire upgrade you went with? Currently looking at the Pilot Sport A/S 4 but curious what you went with. Right now for me I care about “comfort” as I don’t track the vehicle, just spirited drives occasionally. I currently have the OEM’s - Primacy Tour.

Also, any recommendations for a A/S, let me know your thoughts

Went with the continental's , Performancewise . The contis extremecontact dws 06 plus and the pilot sport all season 4 are pretty much identical.
The continental's seem to be quieter , ride better and last a little longer . I'm honestly more of a Michelin fan but this time Continental wins for me lol.

There's a good video reviewing snow, wet, and dry performance of these:

Oh really, nice. See I’ve always had Michelin on my vehicles… maybe it’s time to try a new brand

Especially seeing as those DWS06 Plus are $50-60 cheaper than the Pilot Sport 4 A/S!!

Hmmm…
