Limiting the Lift Height on a Manual Rear Hatch ?

What's the best way to limit the height of the rear hatch lift with a manual hatch ? I have a 4 post lift above my wife's Stinger and the hatch hits it...

Its in the manual.
Ok, fully open you will need approx. max. 2.1 mtr height this should give you some clearance. To adjust opening height to suit your needs you open tailgate then manually hold it (push to) to your required position then push & hold button in tailgate door until it beeps then your height should be set.
Close as normal and it should open at your set height.

If it’s the manual lift gate, you might have to tie a string to the inner handle and a tie down point as a limiting strap.

Throw a hoop on it for when you want to just pop it off

Manual hatch and short people is a bad combination. Maybe shorter struts could be used that don't extend as much?

I was thinking of a shorter strut myself. I had measured them as needing to be 1.25" / 32mm less travel on the rod. I found the original part on Cardid.com, it is OE Numbers: 81771-J5000, 81781-J5000. But how do I find the shorter size product that would fit? It seems you have to know what car has shorter struts that would fit in order to find the part. Know what I mean?

I hear you. A strap is tacky but probably easiest to implement.

Not sure how to setup strap so it doesn't rub against weather stripping -- might not be a problem though.
