Kia Stinger Running Hot?

Hey guys

I am new here, just picked up a 2019 KIA Stinger that has been sitting on the lot for two years.

Got it at 487km at a decent discount.

Thing is, I cant trust that KIA has been taking care of this car. I mean i checked my tires and the rears were (31) suppose to be 36 and fronts were over inflated.

I never owned a turbo car so I dont know if this is normal. But after a 30-40 minute drive the front hood is HOT and im not pushing it because im in the break in period. Max 5000rpm trying to keep under 4k rpm.

The front hood is very Hot to the touch, and when i open the hood I feel the heat emanating from the engine bay.. Oil Temp sits at about 100C

Is that normal?

Also with it sitting idle for two years is there anything you Think I need to do to the car for maintenance?

Hey welcome Leomon. The car is still covered by the Kia new car warranty so I wouldn't worry about things too much. Tyre pressures are easily changed. I don't think a hot engine is any problem either. It is going to be up to maximum temp after about 30-40mins so you would expect that. I would think after 2 years you would need to do an oil and filter change even though it has only done less than 500kms. Maybe it was already done. Congrats on your near new Stinger.

With a pair of turbos under the hood things are always going to be toasty, very toasty compared to a non turbo car - read up on the care of a turbo car vs a non turbo car there are some good articles online from knowledgeable sources.

Maintenance - oil change! and I would fill it up with nothing but premium and toss a bottle of fuel line antifreeze in it for the first 2-3 tanks (it will clear out any water in the tank)

As others have already said the heat is totally normal, as long as your temp guage is sitting at the tick just under half when the car is at operating temperature you're normal. After a drive home from work when I park my car in the garage on a humid day I can come out to the car 4 hours later and it's still VERY hot under the hood. That's those tiny turbos bleeding heat, sometimes I'll pop the hood for a bit and leave the garage door open if it's bothering me.

For maintenance, you already thought of the tire pressure so get those in spec. They should've done that for you during the PDI, but yeah this is KIA we're talking about. I agree an oil change wouldn't be a bad idea, also check your fluid levels, otherwise if the car drives true you should be good to go!

Welcome, adding to the knowledgeable comments above, please look into a oil catch can. This is the contaminant build up after only 20k miles in a Stinger engine.

Hey thanks guys for the response, yeah i guess turbos run hotter than im used to.

Coolant and oil temp never pass middle so i guess im okay.

Will go oil change maybe after break-in.

Oil Can? Is this something I can get the dealer to do? This is my first turbo car so lots to learn11

Oil should be over 200 before the car even starts to get beat on. 210-mid 200’s normal
