Hello everyone, I recently sold my trusty old 2007 for fusion and am now looking forward to hopefully purchasing a Kia stinger in the next 6 months. I have done a lot of research on the differences between all the models with 3.3 twin turbo. I wanted to ask about the dynamic suspension that the GT1 and GT2 comes standard with(correct me if I’m wrong about that) I found a 2020 GT that has the 3.3 twin turbo black leather but it didn’t have the dynamic electronic suspension. HOW much does this affect the overall ride quality and performance of the vehicle in your opinion and is it worth it to pay the extra for the GT1 or GT2? Thanks everyone

I have a premium and gt1 so if there is a difference in ride quality I should be able to tell. to me ride quality is the same overall. the premium feels more nimble cornering but that is a weight distribution difference more than anything else. ecs might stiffen up the ride in sport mode but the stock suspension has never received any complaints that I know of as far as ride quality goes.

I've said this before on here. Imo, it's worth it to spend the extra coin to get more of what you want. I had to "settle" and get a awd gt to be able to stay under 40k new. Paid 36k for it brand new.

I had only test driven gt2/gt1 before I realized that with a new house, keeping the payments down would be beneficial. In hindsight, I shoulda at least got the gt1. I really wanted the sunroof and the smart trunk, which the latter is a gt2 only option. The base gt is no frills when compared to say a gt2. No power tilt steering wheel, no sunroof, no smart trunk, 9 speakers instead of 15, ugly 7" instead of the nicer 8" screen and no nav. Luckily, the 8"screen/nav can be added, which I did. For me, it was less about performance as the engine and trans are the same and more about extra features that I wanted but wasn't able to get.

In my opinion the sport mode transforms my GTS into a sports car. Most definitely better performance as compared to the other modes. I drive in sport mode 95 percent of the time.

I have sport mode on my awd gt. I know it's something like 20 front, 80 rear. Sport mode in the gts is fully rear but is that any different then let's say a rwd gt, gt1, gt2?

Sport mode in the gts is fully rear
Pretty sure the sport mode on the GTS is still 20/80 F/R bias. When it's in Drift mode I think it goes to something like 5/95.

Ahhh I was thinking the sport mode in the gts was the drift mode. Never been in one though, I did test drove the indigo blue special (which also has the drift mode) when it was new but I didn't mess with the drive modes on the test.

I feel it's worth it to go the GT2 route. The HUD and the cooled seats were enough to convince me to go with the GT2.

As far as the suspension, 99% of the time, I'm in sport mode as this is where I enjoy driving the car the most. I can tell you there is a noticeable difference when I put it in comfort in both throttle response and ride.

MY GTS is rear RWD. So I would presume that it is 100% to rear wheels in all modes. Yep get the GT2 for all the goodies unless you can find a 2019 or earlier GT1 which had sunroof, 15 speaker HK stereo which I like. Enjoy your hunt for your Stinger. I can't believe it is gone after this production this year. There is not a car on the market that compares to me.

IMO, the best bang for buck is the 2019-2021 GT1s since they have majority of the features.

That said, I love the extra amenities of the GT2. The suspension difference I would wager you wouldn't notice, but you have to weigh on whether you want the GT2's heads up display, auto-dimming mirror, power liftback hatch, Nappa leather seats, and 360 camera.

For the 2022+ models, the GT2 is the best purchase IMO as the GT1 is way too cut down for the price. The 2022+ GT-Line is also an excellent value with the upgraded infotainment and 300hp motor. I wouldn't personally wouldn't consider the 2018-2021 Base/GT-Lines as the 2.0T motor tends to have more issues than the 2.5T or 3.3TT.

Thanks so much!!!

I bought a 2019 AWD GT new. The only thing I wish it had was the nicer instrument panel and display.
Yeah, the screen and having no nav in the base gt is unacceptable. Glad I fixed that.

Found a 2018 gt1 in Florida just yesterday that I’m taking a look at pretty excited about it
