Pretty good review. It conflates earlier model years with the last model year. But in order to make distinctions, the article would have to double in length.
It's a suitable replacement for my '97 "4 door camaro". Similar power - camaro's lt1 rated 285hp/325 lbft, the 4 banger is 300hp/311 lbft. Curb weight is ~300lb heavier. About the same length.
Missing is the 3rd pedal. Had that car for ~13 years. Used it for 2 moves. Lots of space with the rear seats down.
It all depends where you're coming from. If you've been driving NA V12's all your life, the stinger V6 is a wet dog.
But for someone who's only ever owned cheap 4 bangers, the V6 hauls ass, and with the active exhaust in sport mode it's got enough grunt to put a smile on your face .
9.4/10 is a bit much though. Much as I love this thing I'd give it a biased 8/10. Maybe a 9 if it were still 2018 and you weighed heavily in the price/value category.
I'd been looking for something new for a few years, and though the stinger ticked all the boxes, I was still hesitant to pull the trigger due to the badge. Kia wasn't even on my radar as a "real" car brand. But I also knew I didn't want German reliability, I didn't like the cramped Lexus IS models, and couldn't stand the Infinity Qs interior. I waited patiently for reviews and feedback, and when the refresh models hit the lot I pounced. Aaaaand then it was prompty disco'd, story of my life.
