If you've been in the modding world and definitely the race/track world you have probably heard of Girodisc; long time and well known brake manufacturer

Well we have partnered up with Girodisc to bring to market the Kia Stinger Front Slotted 2 Piece rotor
Depending how the market accepts and buys these rotors will determine if / when we do a rear rotor design as well

The Front Rotors have finished design and we will have 9 rotor pairs ready to ship in 7-12 days

The Girodisc system is a direct replacement for the OE disc, no modifications are necessary. The disc will bolt directly to the car and work with OE calipers perfectly. By upgrading your brakes with lightweight high performance replacements as opposed to a big brake kit, your factory bias is maintained as well as your ABS efficiency. The Girodisc front rotors are approx 17lbs vs. 25lbs for the stock units. This reduction in rotational and unsprung weight allows for quicker acceleration and suspension response.

The central hat section of our rotor is made from strictly U.S. sourced 6061-T6 aircraft specification aluminum.
The disc is made from our own proprietary cast iron, poured in the USA and machined from start to finish in house at Girodisc.
The rotor utilizes a curved vane design, developed in racing to act as a centrifugal pump to force cooling air through the disc.

Now here are some installed photos

Any questions please feel free

This may sound silly but do you know the price of the stock rotors?

For some a price tag of $850 seems really expensive for slotted rotors. Mind you if the stock ones are $650 then it seems like a decent upgrade.

Thanks.

I know that I don't NEED these. But they look so cool. And the conceit behind them appeals to me. I guess I'm a brakes and tires guy!

But, wouldn't the first item of replacement business be brake pads that are racing spec? Then do the rotors.

You say that like it's a bad thing. :P "Flashy parts" don't get my attention in the "I want some" way. But brakes are more than just "flashy parts". Like UHP tires: who NEEDS these? Who is going 186+ MPH in their Stinger, ever? A "W" rated tire should be good enough; it is rated a whole one mile per hour higher than the speed governed 167. But I insist on only UHP tires. 17# vs 25# rolling disc weight; right there, that gets my attention: it isn't just "flashy parts", it's about braking efficiency and handling. When it comes right down to it, is it possible to have too good of brakes? Too much handling enhancement? Replacing solid discs and common pads with race spec isn't going to break the bank. There are so many more expensive upgrades, many of them providing nothing more than appearance and sound enhancement. Brakes are in a category all their own: they stop the car!

Too good? No. But there is a point of deminishing returns.

If you want the best than these 2 piece rotors are crap, you need the $10k ceramic brakes.

Unless you are lapping your car, a single piece rotors with upgraded pads will stop just as well on the street as a two piece design on the street.

That's what I am hearing again and again. Pads are the real fix, not rotors, on the Stinger. That is the assertion that I believe by this point. It hasn't been proven yet: that the pads on the Stinger are the fault, not the rotors. But the evidence points to that being the truth of the matter. "European spec pads" were used to replace the Car & Driver fast lap Stinger pads; why replace at all? Because the US pads are lower grade by comparison. And aren't all complaints about "warped rotors" (lumpy, noisy vibrating operation) from US Stingers?

I got my stinger back with new not cut rotors and brake pads have approx 1200 miles have not felt any vibration as of today...

I wouldn't look at this as a necessary mod. It will almost never be needed for 99.5% of Stinger drivers.

That being said, when my stock rotors are shot I will replace them with 2 piece rotors (not necessarily these). Lighter weight is always better. And the initial higher cost isn't as bad the second time around because you don't have to pay for the hat or hardware, just the disc (granted those are probably still as expensive or more than stock). And lastly, it will be a slight improvement in stopping power over stock due to fade resistance, if the chosen rotors are high quality.

Right, what's the state of pad development? I haven't seen any pads available anywhere except Kia. Surprising - I would've assumed Brembo would use a standard pad.

They are standard, they just have a double standard! :P European spec is better than US spec.

The OEM part number for front rotors is 51712-J5500: cost is $100.00 each plus shipping = approximately $120.00 each.

And the a**hole Kia service tech wanted me to pay $150 each to have the stock rotors turned!

Damnit I hate those f*****s.

This is why I avoid most dealerships at all costs and do all or as much as I can do myself. For me it's not the money it's the stupid sht dealerships do and charge for service.
Ridiculous they wanted to charge that to turn your rotors.

OK, we'll put you down as a "maybe" on having the dealer turn your rotors.

I expected them to be much more expensive than that since they go with a Brembo caliper. I guess they are the same cheapo heavy rotors that all OEMs use

These are dirty cheap for two piece rotors from girodisc. I paid almost 2k for nearly the same thing from girodisc on my cls63. Only slightly bigger rings 360mm vs 350mm on stinger

For those stating these rotors arent needed youre correct

But most of us are modding this car, especially if youre on the forum, you have some interest in making the car perform better

Are these overkill for most people? Perhaps
But we have stingers reaching 500hp and the stock brakes are warping at stock power levels
These are the last rotors youll need to buy
And for any reason you need to get another set all you need to get is a new brake ring

Pads are currently in development and we should have them soon
along with stainless steel brake lines

When are the first Batch shipping? How long for the pads you think?

Thanks for that. I agree these are great for those pushing their Stingers performance to the max. Some of us want a set of rotors and pads that work well together on our Stingers without "warping".
