Just installed Stinger Aluminum Handle Inside Door Catch Plates

Here you go. It was to dark in the garage to get a good picture installed. However these will hopefuuly help. IMHO this is the best way I've seen "so far" to do this. Cheers.

Just installed my catch plates, love the look. I worked the shape with my fingers as CNCBilly said in the post above. Really easy to bend the aluminum plates into the shape of the OEM catch plate, then use the spacers/tape to join the two plates together, and then reinstall.

These pieces can be purchased here:

First of all, I think this product name is the longest of any Kia accessory.

Here’s everything that comes in the box. The 8 little domino looking pieces are spacers, one side is a peel off sticky.

Directions in which give you an idea, but the picture is strange way of explaining it. Google image translate was not helpful because it kept talking about a fish.

These curved plastic plates were very easy to take off using a pry tool. I recommend the MATCC kit from Amazon. A ton of good pry tools for $23

Nice and easy!

Peel off the paper and stick the spacers on just like this. There is an extra little lip in the door handle area which is why the vertical one placed more towards the center.

Put the double sided tape on the spacers.

This is when things get tricky. The aluminum plates don’t take up the entire space, so you want these to be in the upper corner. Make them flush with the top and side, away from the door handle. The actual door handle hides the space that the plate doesn’t cover. It’s also really awkward holding it while trying stick it in perfectly. You don’t want to have to pull it off and try a second time.

Looks great and the silver is a really good match to the door panel.

edit: There's also a video here with a similar installation for the Genesis G80.

Yeah I put mine on top of the oem plastic. I actually left the oem plastic in, didn't take it out. I think I used like 2 spacers stacked together. Been holding up fine for a couple years now. Still have more than enough room to grab the handle.

Vice grips? I don’t recall anyone having the need for those on this simple job.

well, i couldnt find a clamp... just to keep some pressure on the adhesive for a few minutes. its not super tight

I found that using the heavy Velcro, plastic on both sides works better. I installed them with what came in the package but the two fronts kept popping off when it was very cold. Since using that it’s been perfect. It’s thick like the hard plastic pieces that it comes with.
