I have an intake installed already and I ordered the JB4 tune and I am thinking about ordering the HFC Midpipe and Downpipe kit but I have read that some people have been having some problems with Overboost and CEL. I have heard some people use the EWG wire and say that it helps. I am wondering the best way to avoid all of the problems while still having the fun because this is going to be my daily.
Thank you in advance.

Just avoid downpipes.

Just avoid downpipes.
Can you elaborate? I’m looking to purchase the HFC Midpipe + Downpipe combo, I hear it helps with your turbo spooling time and increases 30-40 whp. Is there any merit to this? Why should I avoid downpipes? I have the EWG Wires on my JB4 and got them to plan for the mid/down pipes install. I also have Injen intakes and Snorkels. I am looking for ways to increase HP without changing my exhaust too much to reduce noise/drone or adding the WMI.

The '22+ seem more prone to overboost, some even bone stock apparently. Before putting the mods on the car, try and force overboost conditions (usually in cold weather), and if it does, then take it to the dealer. Seems like Kia hasn't been addressing the problem.

They are a headache to install, you need to be tuned for it, and they have questionable performance gain.

What I mean is that on some Stingers/G70s, there has been a power gain and on others, not so much. Also, the fastest version of this platform is running stock DPs and has had both catless and HFC installed on their cars (yes, multiple G70s) and haven't seen a benefit. Also, if you care about having something covered by the dealer with regard to an engine or exhaust issue, it's going to be far too easy for them to deny it due to that modification.

I've had both HFC and full catless DP on my car. On most vehicles you will see a sizeable performance gain. Unfortunately, we are not necessarily seeing the same gains for our platform. Also, you will be fighting overboost. IMO, the stock DPs should only be changed if you are chasing a specific exhaust note.

For big power builds and roll-racing, there may be a benefit. However, I think the best 60-130 times are owned by that same stock DP G70. Unicorn car? Maybe, but the install alone can lead to issues.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

This was very useful info, thank you. I’m now reconsidering the HFC MP/DP kit, especially with the dealership issues. i just read somewhere on this forum it adds 30-40 WHEEL horsepower and it was something I didn’t want to pass up. Doesn’t seem like the case.

I think that "30-40 whp" was a manufacturer claim, I'm not sure that anyone actually duplicated it. But I also just don't remember because it's been a few years since they hit the market. Most that experienced overboost issues, purchased those DPs also. My set is from a different manufacturer, but the fact remains that my car isn't faster than the stock ones and I dealt with an overboost issue at one point. The bigger concern really is the install. It's time consuming, easy to break stuff and just generally annoying.

Full disclosure and to be fair.........I do love how my car sounds (Catless primary, stock secondary, muffler delete). But I chose the mod for a performance gain and I'm not 100% certain that it changed it enough to warrant the cost.
