Anyone made a switch from JB4 to ECU tuning? I’m thinking of switching to Lap3 ECU 1.5

Any thoughts/experience? Is it worth switching?

Keep the JB4 for logging purposes, those most ECU tunes are the next logical step up.

Or since I have JB4 tune, maybe get a Lap3 TCU instead? Ahhhh decisions decisions lol

You'll need the JB4 anyway if doing a flash map for logging and fine tuning. People seem to like the Lap 1.5 flash but on pump gas timing is awful and on E85 fuel trims are awful. I think it was designed for WMI use.

I really wish someone would be willing to work with you to build a decent backend flash to work (with or without CPI) to do full flex-fuel. I know a couple people on FB are claiming to run E70+ with the latest Lap3 flash, but it still seems more like a fluke / maybe recent revisions, rather than something I should count on being able to do on my '19 GT1.

I'm not dying to upgrade, I'm generally happy with map 2 on 91, map 3/4 on E30, but for a solid flex-fuel solution, I'd pay $3-4K.

Any chance you are going to go back and map oil temp for the Stinger at some point, so we can log it for track days? Right now, oil temp seems to be somehow related to the wiper switch (I have wiper-map-switching enabled) - it reads a steady value that changes to a different steady value when I change maps via the wiper switch.

Also, any progress on a CARB sticker for the Stinger jb4?

It’s worth it.

Yikes. I just ordered the Lap3 TCU tune today. I'm excited!

Looking forward to your thoughts after you get it installed.

For sure! They already shipped it today too. I thought the wait time is 3-4 weeks according to their website.

You gonna put the stickers up in the classifieds?

I mean you've got to share the horsepower with some of us

Just installed it today. Super easy to swap! I disconnected the - terminal so it can re learn the new TCU. It drives normal on eco/comfort. It shines on sport/my custom setting. The shifts are smooth and quick. The stock one kinda jolts when it shifts. This one is super smooth. Downshifting is awesome! Get a TCU tune guys.

For JB4 logging, do I just put it to map 0 and uninstall the fuel wires?

If you are running the JB4, and not an ECU tune, you can log in any map. Keep fuel wires in place unless you have a ECU tune. You're just running Lap 3 TCU, correct?

Yes for now. I bought the Lap3 ECU 1.5 tune and waiting for delivery. I’m planning to use the JB4 for logging and the gauges

yes well in that case your ECU will control everything. No fuel wires needed. Map 0 for logging, if things are real clean maybe map 6 with an extra lb or two of boost. Keep us posted.
