Is the JB4 Tuner a good idea for a daily driver?

I’ve been researching the JB4 tuner and trying to decide if it’s worth investing in for my 2021 Stinger GT (3.3T, RWD). First and foremost, I’m not a gearhead. Claiming to be one would be a massive insult to all of you here. I did grow up working on cars though and I’m technically inclined enough to be able to install it with no problems. Once installed I really don’t like to fuss around with settings all the time. My wife actually drives this car 75% of the time so I’m not the primary driver. She’s good with the performance it has stock but when I drive it, I like to have fun. I’m not going to race tracks nor trying to pull up and race every car I see, I just enjoy driving fast cars, especially out in the Texas hill country. I’ll also likely be adding an aftermarket intake as well with the BMS being the likely choice.

So based on my situation, is it a good idea to get the JB4 and perhaps just keep it on map 1 or map 2 all the time? Perhaps just set it to Map 1 or 2 when I drive it and have it off when my wife is? Or would the smarter choice be to not invest in a tuner and enjoy the car how it is?

Yes. Most of us daily drive our car with ecu tune or piggyback tune. Just leave it on map1 or 2 and depends on your current octane. Doubt your wife will be on 100% throttle all the time.

We only put premium gas in it thus far so based on that, map 2 all the time is ideal and safe? As for my wife, she always drives it in Comfort or Eco mode, never sport mode and isn't overly aggressive on the throttle.

Thanks, I appreciate the response.

I daily drive it and only keep it on map 1/2. Even map 1 is plenty of extra power for me.
When your wife drives it you can just have the Jb4 disabled.

It’s worth it. I ended up getting all kinds of mods but I also am not a gear head and didn’t really know anything about cars until I purchased the stinger and started following this forum.

Thanks man. Always good to hear from similar minded people as me. Looking at prices, I may just go with Burger Tunings "450 Wheel horsepower" package and be done with it as it includes every performance mod I'd be likely to do.

i have been using the Jb4 on my daily drivers for over 10 years no issues.
We also have sold hundreds of JB4 tuners without any issues.

My wife daily drives my Stinger with a JB4 usually on Map2.
She stays in comfort mode and is so light on the throttle it is not even noticeable. She barely notices the Stage 1 Tork tcu in comfort as well.
I crank it up to Map4 when i need to with some E juice and then just turn it back to 1/2 when i park it.
We have gotten as high as 32 mpg on a road trip to Seattle on map1 and 92 octane. Which is better then the Mazda Cx7 it replaced and almost 3 times better then the Tundra Pro we take during bad weather.

Jb4 is a no brainer in my mind.

It's just so good at what it does.

Great info. I'm feeling better about getting the JB4 tuner. Thanks!

100% reliable to be used on a daily driver without any issues.

I actually worked with Terry on my 2007 Bmw 335i back in 2006 when the JB2 was first released.

Had it installed on my Daily driver and never had an issue.

We have also had it installed on our 2019 Stinger GT1 for a few years now, and not a single problem at all.

Take a look at some of the 60 reviews we have on our website on this product below:

Thanks for the input everyone. I ordered the "450hp kit" today with the tuner, intakes, spark plugs etc. Looking forward to experiencing the improvements.

Hello all, and OP! Hope your week is going swimmingly thus far!
I have a '20 GT-Line and have the JB4 installed. I have had it on the car for the last 4 months (since I purchased the vehicle actually) and love it so far. I believe the maps for the 4-bangers and the 6-bangers are slightly different, however I drive my car every day and have it on Map 4 which is the E30+ map. I have a station very close to me that has high quality "corn". Not a single issue, and it literally drives basically stock under 4K RPM or so. Hope this helps.

Dang it. Got the kit in today, started to install the intakes and discovered they sent me 2 passenger side heat shields. Soooo... back to the stock air intakes. :(

Hopefully they can get a driver side heat shield out to me quickly. I really wanted to put the intakes in for a week, then the JB4 tuner so I can appreciate the differences between each step.

I agree with everyone here in that the JB4 and some supporting mods are a no brainer. In addition you should really take a look at replacing the factory sway bars, and then obviously break pads if you haven’t already done so. Most people would agree that if they started all over, sways would be the first upgrade. Really changes the car.

I bought my JB4 immediately after the 500mi break-in, still going strong.

Map 3 with E30 almost exclusively, except for road trips when I can't find corn I'll drop to map 2.

I daily'ed E85 maps on JB4 for years with no issues.
