Interior Panel Falling Off

Hi,

There is a small panel above the rear view mirror that keeps falling off. When I put it back on, it does not seem to be fully secure. I am not sure if anyone else if having a similar issue.

If anyone has any suggestions on how to properly secure it, I would appreciate it.

Take it to the dealer to get fixed, that should be covered under the warranty. Someone might have done something to the mirror to cause that to happen.

some duct tape will fix that up. Kidding, probably a broken tab, let the dealer fix it.

Doesn't look like any tabs are broken. But for whatever reason it doesn't seem to be properly secured?

What is this panel for? What is the actual name for it?

Mine fell off the other day when I started the car. Took me a minute to find out where it came from. You are correct in that it still doesnt feel secure. Is it really cold where you are. It is here and I had my exhaust cut outs open so I chalked it up to the vibration of my car and the cold.

I have the same issue. The rear view mirror basically moves below this small panel, even though the panel itself does not fall off. How to disassemble it?

On my GT1 the panel is secure and never been removed for anything. On the Premium, when I bought it as second owner the panel was sitting in the cup holder, and I said what's this for? Noticed the rearview mirror was loose, and when I shined a flashlight up there to find the screw, well there was the place for the panel.

I think it covers the sensor guts to the rain sensing wipers, which the premium has, but my GT1 does not. The fit is too tight with the extra electronics in that space. And the panel - once removed for whatever reason - won't fit back in securely. I can push on it and even feel the tabs apparently click into place. But give it a couple or three days and it pops back out.

I used four strips of Scotch Multitask Tape and it held for months. But the temperature changes compromised the tape glue. So, I switched to black Gorilla tape, a single piece across the panel, and it holds up much better, plus it matches the surrounding color much better than gloss clear tape, which can attract attention with the shininess. The Gorilla black tape is less affected by temperature changes. Been almost a year now and it doesn't indicate that it needs to be replaced by a fresh piece of tape.

Thanks, but I want to remove the panel, because my mirror is loose. Do I pull the panel from the lower end (closer to the mirror)? Anything to watch out for?

On my '18 and '19 Stingers, that panel does not have to be removed to tighten the rearview mirror. You get that 1/8" six-pointed bit in the end of your screwdriver and a quick twist is all it takes.

Look forward of the mirror post. On the 2019 Premium the surrounding panel partially covers the screw - why? It seems daft. The 2018 GT1 has the screw fully exposed, easy to see and reach. Maybe somebody in "design" decided it looked too utilitarian to have a tightening screw exposed like that, and made cosmetic "improvements" to the surrounding panel. And maybe yours looks different than either of these.
