the DYI hatch rattle fixes were all great so maybe you guys have some tips for other interior noises. As the weather shifts around a lot, my car is getting pretty noisy.

1. Whenever I hit any sized bump, my driver door makes a creaking sound. I believe it is the door panel itself rubbing up against something.

2. I feel that the Stinger has more road noise than the average sedan, is this something other people have noticed as well? I assume it is the air vents being located next to the driver/passenger door, but maybe I have a seal issue somewhere.

3. Sunroof rattle over bumps

Any tips or DYI fixes you guys have tried please let me know, thanks.

A little shin etsu grease on the door seals quiets mine up for about 6 months, then reapply.

I'm slowly working my way through a full sound treatment on my car. I may do a write-up some day but here's the gist of it:
  • CLD treatment in trunk helps a little with exhaust resonance, but does nothing for road noise.
  • CLD/MLV/Roxul treatment in doors did wonders for blocking sound coming in from adjacent cars (literally can't hear cars besides me now), but does very little for road noise generated by the car itself.
  • CLD/MLV/thermozyte treatment in wheelwells kills high frequencies (>1khz), but tire roar is not lessened very much.
  • my next step is full MLV coverage of the floor and wheel arches under the carpet, but that's a big undertaking I've been too lazy to tackle.
The best place to address road noise is from the manufacturer. Aftermarket solutions are costly and heavy, but can make a difference if you have the time/money to throw at it, but there's no silver bullet.
The lowest effort solution would be to switch to quieter tires.

Sunroof creaks seem to be this car's Achilles heel. Lots of threads on it but no solution seems to work for everyone.

Roof rattles, grease the tracks and such. Had it done at kia for free. I know the owners and such. It fixed the rough roads sunroof noises.

Bumps it will always rattle. Just the flexing. Is it good no. But I hear the sunroof and roof crackle everyone I leave my driveway.

Door rattling would take some work and finding which piece is rattling? You could pull the panel and put some deadenr.

Hope this helps

Not really. Removing the door cards doesn't expose the door skin. You'd have to remove the speakers and have a very flexible long skinny armed person reach into the hole and apply it. But that's probably not where the noise is coming from.

what is CLD?

Tire noise is not my issue, its definitely lack of sealant somewhere. I can hear other cars and wind a lot more. Might also just be a hatchback thing, but the sunroof is annoying.

I wipe down all the rubber seals with silicone spray, shin etsu is probably better - but I have the spray already. Plus if you are in freezing temps helps keep the doors from freezing shut (some vehicles (makes, models) are better or worse for this)

CLD - Chronic Liver Disease lol

Sound deadening... Dynamat, etc and it is in part because of the hatch (vs trunk) I just put DynaPad under the carpet and it help, but I will likey add some dynamat when it warms up

was the CLD part a trick or am I stupid

Constraint Layer Dampener (CLD), AKA Dynamat.

Dynamat Xtreme is the best performance-per-weight. There's better options but they're heavier and more expensive (way past diminishing returns IMO). If you want the absolute best get Resonix, it's the spiritual successor to the (discontinued) SDS stuff. It's expensive though.

More info than you ever wanted to know about CLD: Sound Deadening (CLD) Testing

Into summer and fall last year I definitely noticed a "ticking" that was coming from some of the rubber (or whatever it is) door seals. I smeared 3M silicone grease along both door seals and it quieted it down significantly, with the downside that I've got grease smears along the areas where the trim meets the seals that I sometimes rub on accidentally when getting in/out. I initially using some gaffer tape with a cloth liner that quieted it down but look very janky. I got some gummi pfledge (or something like that) that I might try next, or maybe come back to something like the gaffer tape which at least didn't make a mess.

GPL-106 is the oil you want to use for weatherstrip seals

After using the Etsu lube it really helped with small creaks, even the sunroof a little. I did discover that the driver door noise was the plastic trim in the top corner. I just shoved a small piece of cloth behind it and problem solved.

Thanks for the suggestions!

So from my research Shin Etsu grease is the same as any silicone grease. Which is the same as silicone paste and that is the same as dielectric grease. So shin etsu is the same as 3M dielectric grease?
