Any tips on installing a dash cam in the Stinger? There's no clearance space on the side of the windshield to tuck the cable, so it's gonna look ugly with the cable clearly visible.

My cable is thin enough to tuck the cable up through the roof, around the cloth/windshield border along the passenger side, down the door well, under the glove compartment, then tucked around the middle area to the USB port behind the arm rest.

Here's a few pictures: Stinger dashcam

I can take some more pictures tomorrow, but the path I described is the general gist. I have the FalconZero F170HD+ and am using the cable it came with.

Thanks for the pics. Interesting, you have it connected to the rear USB port. I’m gonna give it a go tomorrow. May need to consult you if I get stuck...

Yep. That way I can don't have to keep it plugged into the center console and can close the door when I don't need it. :D

How are you mounting your dash cams to the windshield? I don’t want to use adhesive since I have a front strip and there doesn’t seem to be enough room for a mount that uses the rear view mirror. Am I stuck with just a suction cup mount?

What is a "front strip"?

In any case, if you can pop the overhead console out, you'll likely find there is a switched 12V wire up in there somewhere. That's how I wired up a dash cam in my Sorento, and also in my daughters Challenger, along with a back-up camera (doesn't come with one) - yes, the screen is on all the time, and that's not a bad thing - it's in the sunglasses holder so she can pop it down any time she wants to see behind her, even when not in reverse..

I assume he means the colored sun protection strip on top? But those are usually hardetched into the glass or so and close to impossible to get off I thought.

Just with a suction cup mount next to the mirror-area on the top of the windshield. Not very in-the-way and easy to remove if I need to.

A strip of tint across the front windshield to block the sun similar to what the flip down sun visors do but without blocking your entire vision of that area.

Tint is just film with adhesive and not hard etched to the windshield. If you stick something to it you will pull the tint off when trying to remove it.

Thx. I know what a tint strip is, thought you were talking about something from the factory that prevented mounting there.

I've updated the album with some more pics if you're interested in how I have it routed: Stinger dashcam

I have it going through the openings in the glove compartment when it's open, but it doesn't affect it closing at all, there's enough of a gap.

My dashcams are using USB cables. Don't forget that you can buy thinner, smaller cables on the market that may suit the needs better.

I do wonder how easy it woul dbe to immediatly get to an ignition plus at the roof, though. But I'd be too scared to take the roof off myself, these things are finicky.
