My JB4 Bluetooth has gone bad due to the water getting to it. I have my JB4 placed on top of the fusebox on the passenger side. Water gets to it every time I wash the car and it wont connect for a few hours, this time however it went bad.

any ideas? I put the new one in a plastic bag but it looks damn ugly.

The billet enclosure is gasketed, so shouldn't be letting water in. Split the case and check that the gasket is properly seated.

If it's an earlier model with the plastic enclosure, I'm not sure how those were sealed. If you continue to have issues, I'd contact JB4 - they do market the billet enclosure as 'all weather'.

Many years of RC addictions can help me answer your question... The answer is always plasti dip.

I have the first edition, which is the plastic, but its all weather and has a gasket as well. Anyways, my problem is with the Bluetooth adapter only.

JB4 or Bluetooth Adapter?

Bluetooth adapter.

Please share more details, sounds interesting.

Have you tried simply tucking the Bluetooth adapter either behind or to the side of the fuse box? That should keep it from any prolonged exposure to water and definitely wouldn’t get hit by the stream of water from washing.

But I like the recommendation from @Frenchy_418.

Whenever I wash my car, I put a towel on top of the JB4 before I start.

I did that a few times, but the towel will get very damp and it will still get to it.

I use a foam cannon and pressure washer. I never had this issue.

You can buy plastidip or liquid electrical tape in a screw top jar instead of spray can. Then using the dip method or a brush and many layers you can make pretty much any electronic or box fully waterproof. We plasti dipped esc, receivers, bec, servos... etc. Make sure to do a part of the wires at the inlet and outlet if any. There is a lot of tutorials on youtube about waterproofing with plasti dip.

....back when you used it to literally dip objects in it to make a plastic-like coating. The name makes more sense now, doesn't it? @Frenchy_418 is telling you to literally dip your Bluetooth module in it to give it a waterproof coating.

It's a good idea. I'll have to do it when I finally give up by being annoyed with my stupid USB cable and go for the Bluetooth module myself.

Sounds good, will try it.

Tried to get the plasti dip and unfortunately wasn’t able to find any. Importing this stuff internationally via air is impossible.

had to find another solution, took a paper clip plastic box, tapped a hole and added a rubber seal and some silicone. Hopefully this will work.

The problem I can see with that will be condensation and moisture in the box.
