Hello,
I am looking at possibly purchasing an AWD Stinger GT1 and was wondering about the maintenance costs. Is it expensive to maintain the GT? How long do your tires last, especially because of the different sizes front and rear and not being able to rotate them. I live in New England and was wondering if many of you use snow tires in the winter and summer tires in the other 3 seasons? Do many of you do any of your own work?

Thanks in advance,
Bob

I’ve not found it expensive to maintain. I have 20k on my tires, and will probably get a little more out of them. I rotate side to side, though not sure that does much. I drive heavy on acceleration but somewhat conservative on cornering. Oil is full synthetic, so that can be a bit more than one might be used to. I’m in Texas, so can’t speak to snow tires and I am too lazy to do my own work though there are a number of forum members that do. Good luck in your decision making!

On my almost 32k miles, I've found the Stinger maintenance cost to be very low. As a matter of fact, the warranty on it has been great and the dealer has covered whatever small issues have risen in the time I've had it.
The only money out of pocket I've had to put, has been for regular/normal maintenance items like oil changes and tires.

26k, and all I've needed to do is oil and tires.

Only 5000 miles on the odometer so far and had an oil change at a Kia dealership for $22, which included labor and a new oil filter. I also brought in my own Castrol SAE 5W-30 full synthetic for them to put in; which was $25~ for 5 quarts and the Stinger takes 7.29 quarts.

I honestly spent more money on non-maintenance stuff like a set of winter tires and wheels, JB4, and Denso spark plugs than on the actual maintenance of the vehicle.

The fuel efficiency of the Stinger is okay. I commute two hours a day and need to fuel up every 4 days (5 if I'm lucky) and it's $40~ per tank on 91 Octane.

Very low maintenance car if you take care of it regularly and not be a goon on the highway.

Hello HerbieTheCar, I have also been looking at a Buick Regal GS. I know from reviews and driving both that the GS is lacking in a couple of areas but also has some nice features. I just wanted to see what others thought. Thanks for your reply.

Not sure if you're joking or not but a Stinger is -in every way- better than a Buick Regal GS. More power, less curb weight, and a much better look. I'm biased, of course.

Dealer offering me 1500 for 5 years of maintenance all including except tires and batteries... Is this a rip off?

28K miles and on second set of Michelins in the last two months; got 22K out of the front and 18K out of the rear OEM tires. Oil changes and all points maintenance only in that time.

(edit: no, I have not burned through a set of tires in two months. lol)

What have been those issues? I just got a 2020 and want to know what I should keep my eye on.

It's cap priced servicing, you can go to Kia's web page and enter in your vin and it will display how much each service will cost you.

From memory, it was very cheap when compared to my merc. It was like more then half the price of my merc :)
