I've been playing around with my Bluetooth ODB2 scanner and doing some 0-60 launches. I turned off the GPS permissions so it's getting the speed from the car's speed sensors. I'm sure I reached the point where I need some wider tires since I'm still on stock wheels which are 225 front, and 255 rear.

Even though my fastest time was with launch control I wasn't satisfied with the amount of wheel spin I had. I tried a 2nd gear launch in manual mode and wasn't far off, so that may be my go-to method.

I plan on stepping up to 245 fronts and 275 rears, lightweight wheels, and a diff brace. Hopefully, that helps my RWD Stinger put down the power. Also, I'm not sure if I want a TCU tune.

I "launch" from a rolling start at freeway speed, aka "passing fast". :)

On those occasions when I have pole position at a light (speed limit at least 45), I use the auto hold and smoothly mash (not jam) the pedal. I've never had a single incident of breaking traction, but AWD fixes that for you I guess. If I were RWD, I'd just be more careful to roll and then hit it, get a method down that works and fine tune my foot. Hah.

I launch at around 2100 RPM since the factory gauge seems to lag a few 100 RPM, so I'm guessing I launch at 2300ish actual. Best 60ft is 1.69, average 0-60 is 3.9-4.1. I'm also AWD, but you can read my signature. As far as TCU tune goes, I feel it was worth it. $100 for the Tork stage 1 and I went from a 12.2 to 11.8 quarter mile. Granted I had a half tank of E30(93+E85) but if I had 1/4 tank or less I'm sure it would of been around 11.7.

My wheels are about 10lbs lighter per corner and cost less than $1000, plus I re-used the factory tires. Really helped out the 60ft and 0-60 also.

Being RWD a good, wide tire is going to be your biggest gain. I don't wanna say it, but if you had a JB4 you could also lower boost for 1st-3rd gear to help with launches, or any ECU tune in general.

Sounds like I'm going to have to find the sweet spot when rolling on the throttle from 0.

Has the TCU tune affected the daily drivability of your car at all? I think Tork, Lozic, and Lap3 are the only 3 companies to offer TCU tunes.

No not really, drives like stock in comfort and eco. Makes sport feel like sport+ if that makes sense.

Makes sense. Sometimes I like driving around in manual mode. Do you ever use manual mode with the TCU tune?

Every great once in awhile. I mainly use manual mode at the strip. Everything in general is more responsive in auto or manual.

The Tork stage 1 isn't a crazy balls to the wall tune. I would say it's a quality of life tune. Firmer faster shifts and takes the limits off the launch control, like the "brake snip".

Just in case someone else comes here looking for the answer to "How the heck do I even use the factory Launch Control?":

Summary:

0) Be sure the car has been fully broken in per factory instructions
1) Get the engine up to normal temps (including oil, transmission, and coolant).
2) Select Sport Mode
3) Press brake pedal + Hold ESC button for 3 seconds. Confirm on the gauge cluster that Electronic Stability Control is Disabled.
4) Press hard on the brake pedal (use your left foot) and hold it while depressing the accelerator (use your right foot) until Launch Control Ready appears on the gauge cluster.
5) In 4 seconds, Launch Control Active will appear on the gauge cluster. Remind everyone to keep their hands and arms inside the vehicle.
6) Release the brake* and hang on tight...

* It should go without saying to only do this when the road is clear and straight ahead, the steering wheel is straight, and you're willing to accept full responsibility for whatever comes next...

I recently tried the brake snip for launch control. I pulled out the specific fuse in the fuse box which allows you to build more boost and launch at a higher RPM. It worked very well.

I’ve tried it too, the brake snip and removing the fuse and it was pretty awesome. Now that I’ve tried it a second time it brings up the “brake fuse” warning and I can’t start the car. Sucks…

How do you launch your car?
I use a brake line switch to disable the stock launch control which makes it a bit more difficult, but from what I’ve tried and heard , holding down the brake all the way and hovering to 2000rpm then releasing and mashing the pedal work pretty good.
