How often are you supposed to swap out hks plugs ? I heard of ppl swapping out every oil change which is a lot to me imo. I was thinking anywhere between 10-15k miles. Any input is much appreciated .

Lol @ every oil change. If you’re not on boost all the time, maybe 20-30k. 15-20k sounds about right.

Everyone’s different lol but cool

I thought spark plug changes was on the 75k service? I swapped out to HKS at around the 30k mark and they're still there at 55k.

Not sure if WMI is suppose to make the plug life shorter or longer, but my Denso IKH24 plugs tend to last around 10k miles before they start to show signs of missing on high boost.

I was informed at c. 45K miles that the plugs are recommended for replacement on the Stinger at 42K miles, so I had mine done then. 15K miles later I figure I have another 24K miles to go. If HKS plugs are better than the OEM Stinger plugs, I wouldn't be swapping them any sooner than that, probably longer in between actually.

Ok that makes sense then 42k miles must be close to 70k kilometres which was advised.

Wow I thought the life on these plugs was much longer than that? Anyone know why they go bad so quick?

The plugs aren't going bad that soon, the driver is replacing them that soon for OC(D) reasons. :P

Haven’t changed plugs on my Q3 and I’m at 80k. But then I don’t go on boost every time. If you are under boost every day, of course plugs won’t last long.

Now that the question's been answered, I have a related one...

If someone only occasionally accelerates hard, do you think 42k miles is too soon? Is that interval recommended by Kia based on the expected average Stinger driver?

If swapping, is there an appropriate set of replacement plugs that would last longer under more typical driving habits?

Still very curious to hear the forum's thoughts on this...

I had my stock plugs swapped out at the 40k mile interval by my shop. They stated they needed to be swapped and I already had the hks plugs purchased. Based on what I know from the forum the hks plugs are the best to get and last the longest. Before swapping out to hks plugs before my tune I was on boost everyday to and from work. Logically thinking I would think you would be fine but I definitely would keep those hks plugs on standby. Curious as well as to what others think

Definitely plan on having the plugs pre-purchased before 40k miles happen, for that very reason.

As said previously Kia told me the spark plug change is at 70k km service. Not sure what that is in miles.

Had my stock plugs swapped at 42K with HKS but had no hesitation or problems prior to swap. Drive for a living typical 6-8 hours a day, typical spirited driver but no hard boost, just enough to get around the grannies.
