• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

High mileage Stinger GT a smart decision?

Have been shopping for a Stinger GT and have done a few test drives and absolutely adore how the car handles and feels.

I looked at a brand new Stinger GT with the bimodal exhaust which I talked the dealer down to 63k.

However I also looked at a 77000kms 2017 Stinger for 38k. Now the price seems extremely low and I get that it's because the mileage is high. I drove the car (the dealer let me take it out alone all by myself) and it felt great; no rattles, smooth to drive. There were a couple of minor body issues which they said they would fix and it had the bimodal exhaust.

Do people here think it is a smart decision to buy a Stinger GT with 77k mileage for that price (assuming the warranty still stands).

Have also looked at a 2018 with 6000kms and the bimodal exhaust for 50k.

What do people think? I love the car and think the 38k price point is extremely enticing but will this be hard to sell in 3 years time if I'm thinking of upgrading then?

For reference, I currently drive a 2013 86GTS

There were significant fixes/updates for the MY19. Is the 2018 car MY18 or MY19?
Also keep in mind that the capped-price servicing will have finished on the $38K vehicle.
My opinion would be to go with the $50K vehicle as it's taken a decent depreciation hit but still has low kilometres.

IMHO this is the best current option for you, almost new & you save $13K, you could also talk them down as well.

Unfortunately the $50K option is also an MY18. I know that one if the issue switch the MY18s is the Continental sport tires....and I think I'm missing the mood lighting in the cabin.

What else will I be missing? The question now becomes, is it still good value at $50k for the MY18 or am I better off waiting another 6months or so for the MY19s to get closer to that $50K mark?

A full replacement of tires would cost me about $2-3K

Agreed. The depreciation seems to be quite a bit on these. Although not that different from other cars I guess

Low kilometres on the $50k MY18 means a lot of life in the Continentals, do a wheel alignment straight away will increase tyre life, I got 25k out of mine & was surprised by how much the factory alignment was out.
What build month is the $50k offering?

It says March 18 build date. I have attached the screenshot.

Sorry I'm new the forums. Is it okay to share carsales links here?

Less than 2 years old, that’s a pretty good buy with those kms still get over 5 years warranty to boot, this is new car warranty with most other manufacturers, offer $48K & see if they bite.

Changes that I know about for MY19:
  • Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres - tyres make a huge difference on a car like this.
  • Ambient interior lighting - I've got it in mine but isn't a deal breaker if it was missing.
  • Different design for the infotainment screen - this one was significant because it's something you see all the time.
  • Can completely turn off fake engine noise (I'm not 100% sure this wasn't available in MY18).
On top of that, there are usually smaller fixes applied to the second model year of most cars that aren't officially listed.

If you wait 6 months, they'll likely bring out the MY21 which will have more significant updates which means (a) you can grab a MY19/MY20 for cheaper or (b) you can buy the new one if you value the newer features and design changes.

No big deal but earlier models do not have metal scruff plate at the hatch opening.

Am I reading the mileage correctly?

77000kms = 47845.582 miles in 2 years??? Daaammmnnnn! :eek:
