Hey everyone, parked the car earlier and noticed this little module under the dash. It's been spliced into a couple spots. Definitely aftermarket electrical tape action going on. Can anyone tell me what it is? Don't want to push it in case it's for the ejection seats.

Did you buy thre car used? Do you have remote start? Aftermarket alarm? EVC exhaust? Dashcam?

It's probably just held on with double sided tape. Take it off and see what's written on the other side of it.

Not that I saw! Supposedly a brand new vehicle. Only 40 miles on it when purchased, I need a wiring diagram.

The two wire combination looks to be going to power. The black is ground. The question is what is that blue wire.

Bought the car "NEW", no aftermarket remote start nor the one from Kia, stock alarm and I'd have to check the exhaust.

Very strange for a new car. Would it be a dealer diagnostic thing that they left on by mistake?
It's a button, no plugs...Dunno what it could be.

Yeah that's what I was trying to find out. Without shooting it with a fluke or something and having no diagram I have no idea.

Take it back to the dealer & ask “Please explain”

So much self-control...

Push the button!!!

I think you have an aftermarket alarm or remote start installed.

How many key fobs were you given and what do they look like?

It might come down to it.

LOL military taught me just enough self control not to push random buttons. Two FOBS. Both OEM.

This is the only thing on the bottom. Screwed into dash. 3 pins...So it's not just an on/off button for lights or anything. What the hell is the blue wire though?!

The front slides out. Both side have a PCB in them...

I'm like 78% sure it's a valet switch for an aftermarket alarm.

Forgive my ignorance, but what the hell is that?

It's a button that you use to turn the alarm off on an aftermarket alarm system.

Normally you'd disabled the alarm with the fob, turn the power on (engine off), hold the button for a few seconds and it will disable it.

Why the hell would there be another alarm on the vehicle if it's supposedly new? Is that something dealers usually put in here? I've spent most of my life in japan so this is really my first NEW car.

Guessing here...

Maybe someone before you was about to buy the car and wanted an alarm/remote start installed. The deal fell through and the dealer had the system removed but left the switch???

Or maybe it's still there but disabled...
