Got a flat and it turns out the entire inside edge of my back tire was worn down to the metal. This was not a puncture, just a tire with no more tread on the inside. So much for trusting the dealer's multi-point inspection. I got an oil change a month ago and they didn't mention there was metal sticking out of my tire. Oh well, the fault is mine for not noticing myself.

I have the factory Bridgestone Potenzas and and the other tires are looking a little bare on the inside ring as well. They have a warranty for 40k miles - and I only have 26k miles on my Stinger!

I just ordered a new set of 4 Michelin Pilot Sport AS4s, but is there some way I could get a rebate from Kia or Bridgestone for all the treadlife I missed out on? Has anyone had success getting some money back from this situation? How do I go about doing that?

I have done this many times. I just mention the tire warranty to the place I buy my new tires at and they credit the remaining warranty payout to the new ones.

Wow, that seems too easy. With Costco I bought the tires online and need to wait to have them delivered before going in to a scheduled appointment. I will see what they say then. Thanks.

Unfortunately, I stopped by Costco and they said they didn't deal with manufacturer's warranties.

Bummer. I usually go to Discount Tire. They take care of all of it.

^^ big o does the same thing. they printed out the savings adjustment for me on new michelin and nitto motivo when I enquired into the treadlife warranty rebate wanting to know what it would be.

but I don't trust big o much. they put a replacement michelin on inside out which is pretty basic and stupid of them. also the balancing on that tire was flakey.

Discount tire with warranty. Win-win

I just got a tire replaced at Discount Tire. The tire developed a bulge (probably damaged internal belt) but there was still a good 40% tread depth left. The tech measured the tread depth at several places and gave me pro-rated discount toward a new tire. I still had to pay for mount & balance, but all in all, not a bad deal.

I did not buy the road hazard warranty when I got this set of tires, because what DT charges for all 4 tires was a good bit more $$$ than replacing 1 tire. It's a gamble one way or another. This latest one was the first one in about 6-7 sets of tires I had to replace a tire completely. If I had bought road hazard warranty for all of them, I would be a out a big wad of cash and not gotten much back.

For me, the standard mfr warranty is sufficient coverage. FWIW, TireRack includes Road Hazard warranty on all the tires I bought from them. Have not had to make a claim yet, but I like that I didn't have to pay extra with them.

@OP, I doubt you'd be able to make a claim, even if tire wear warranty was honored. The type of wear you describe is due to poor alignment. One of the requirements for most wear warranties is *even* tire wear.

Well my brand new Continental 285 30 20 got a screw in it where it couldn't be patched. So I got a brand new tire under warranty. Glad I paid for that $300 tire

Correct.

Even if Bridgestone approves the tread wear claim, it would most likely be pro-rated credit for replacement purchase of Bridgestone tires. No tire mfr is going to cut your a check to go buy somebody else's tires.

Ah, thanks for talking me down JSolo and Volfy. All that makes sense. I will just suck it up and make sure everything is properly aligned this time.

Don't let me discourage you from pursuing mileage warranty claims. Just have to do it right.

If you gonna keep the car a while, a lifetime alignment policy is a great investment. I got mine for less than $200 and have already gotten the Stinger checked twice and about to do my 3rd. Even if you don't track or do suspension work, just getting checked yearly would guarantee you won't have tire wear issue due to alignment ills. Plus the regular alignment sheets will be perfect for tire warranty claims. If the tires show abnormal or uneven wear, sjowing them yearly alignment sheets essentially shut them up about alignment being at fault.

Hey, if you can get them to make a warranty claim even with that kind of wear, more power to you. But don't be surprised if you get shut down.
