I noticed pricing for the all-new BMW M340i was announced so I wondered to myself how much more expensive it would be when equipped like the most expensive Stinger, the GT2 AWD. Using the option pricing, I added everything that the GT2 has standard to see the difference:

BMW M340i xdrive base price: 56,000 (destination, +995)
Leather, +1450
Driver Assistance Package (similar to Kia's drive wise), +1700
Parking package, +900
Premium package (heated seats, wheel and HUD), +1400 (+350 for heated front/rear seats)
19" staggered wheels, +600
Ambient lighting, +250
HK surround sound, +875
Wireless charging, +500
Total: 65020

This works out to $11,625 more than a Stinger GT2 AWD. And this isn't even a fully loaded, with every option it's about 70k.

What are the base models' seats covered with? Fake leather, I'm assuming ...

Sensatec, which I believe is their lingo for vinyl...

Plus no usable rear seat when driven by an adult.

440 gran coupe is the real comparison

Yeah, the 440I GC (6 cylinder) is a Sportback, similar to the Stinger, should run around $65k as well.

I like the interior of the new 3 series, previously almost all of the BMW interiors I have seen looked about a decade too dated. I can't say I like the new exterior styling, pretty average looking IMO, I prefer the Stinger's look by a substantial margin.

Lol 70k USD what a joke bought my GT2Stinger for 42k new. Don't get me wrong BMW is an awesome car but cannot pay such a high premium for the badge

More than I'm willing to pay for it, but I will say this is the first non real M BMW that has peaked my interest since getting the Stinger. It's going to be faster (mid 12's), handle better, and holy crap it sounds wonderful. I would kill to get our Stingers to sound like that.

Exterior wise, much like the G70, I find it dull and uninspiring.

Just a word on BM's Sensatec (MBtex) vinyl seats. Almost 3 years ago I leased a 2017 300C coupe with MBtex seats. I just couldn't justify the $1500 extra for leather, particularly so after reading the reviews on MBTex. The word was that MB's vinyl seats were great. And, now, I must admit that I have had absolutely no regrets with MBTex even though they were not A/C perforated, and I live in southern FL. Furthermore, aside from comfort, they never get dirty and they never get too hot. Great seats, certainly would do it again if I was getting another MB...but I'm not as my present lease is up in Aug and I'm getting a GT2.

FWIW, I hate the Bimmer twin kidney grille. It evokes the image of Groucho Marx, great American comic actor. Not exactly a performance icon. upload_2019-2-20_7-32-17.webp

And the Stinger is better looking. But you forgot to list horsepower numbers. Ponies cost $ too.

I know handling badgewhoring and engine noise are superior on the Beemer but 20k more for that fully loaded BMW and gives u 9 more HP? Lol

Sorry to be so pedantic, but Beemers are motorcycles. The cars are called Bimmers. Most Bimmer drivers don't know that little factoid, either.

Actually it's 7 hp more than the Stinger.

But in their defense the M340xi is a half second faster to 60 than the Stinger. Of course it's smaller so it won't weigh as much. I'd bet some of the cost is from using a lot of aluminum in place of the steel centric construction of Hyundais/Kias.

On paper the M340 and G70 should be great competition for each other.

But while the Bimmer driver is staring at your Brembos and trying to figure out WTF you're driving, your hole shot beats his ass.

they also run mid 12's, love or hate them BMWs are known to be quite a bit faster than their HP figures would indicate. An M340xi would pull several car lengths on a stock stinger at the strip, .4 to .5 seconds in the 12's is a very big gap.

Its not the badge your paying for, its quality and customer service. look at most of the complaints on this forum and that is what KIA is lacking. I was actually told by KIA Customer Care to avoid the 2 dealerships close to me and take my car an hour away because KIA didnt trust the two by my house.
