The front end of my G8 GT has been scraped up going in and out of driveways with either a high curb or through dips on city streets. The front end of the Stinger is closer to the front wheels (less overhang) so it "should" be less prone to scraping. Has anyone had trouble with front end clearance? And, yes, I know you don't hook parking bumpers or curbs when parking - that's not the problem.

I feel like the front end sits really high. Too high really. Sometimes when I stand back and look at my car from the front, I find myself wishing the front end wasn't so high... I think I might order some springs to help with it.

But to answer your question more directly, I have not had any issues with scraping at all. Just the other night I pulled up way to far in a parking spot by mistake at a restaurant and the entire front end was over-hanging the raised sidewalk but didn't scrape at all.

Thanks, @jwhollan. The center looks like good clearance, but the areas in front of the wheels looks much lower. I hope you're right.

I think the overhang is key--almost everything, including my old GPGT, scrapes backing out of my friend's driveway, and the Stinger doesn't. Even poorly-designed speed bumps and big dips have been no problem.

I've been testing the accuaracy of the front camera to get a feel for when to stop before scrapping the front spoiler . So far i've been lucky , just have to remeber to hit the cam button when approaching the curb etc

I've not had an issue yet, but I am babying it. I did back into a parking spot with snow piled and "scraped" the rear diffuser. No damage, thankfully.

Hey @westcoastGT, do you get beeping at all or just have to rely on the camera? I don't believe I get beeping...

I get the beeping in reverse , I dont recall it in forward , I'll check that later

Used to get same issue in my Optima. You have to approach the steeper driveways from an angle to avoid scrapes. Kerbs in Australia vary in height and it’s a real pain sometimes. Maybe get a clear 3M protection done for that area.

From all the helpful answers here, I think I'll be OK since my G8 GT is much lower and farther forward than the Stinger. My "radar" is tuned to that awareness. But the wife has to drive the car, and she's NOT a car nut, so she forgets. She once hooked the front air dam on the G8 on a protruding piece of rebar in a concrete parking bumper and nearly ripped it off backing out of the parking space. I don't know what the front of a Stinger costs, but I can tell you that replacing the front of my G8 GT was over $1,300. And it still has scrapes on it that I have to cover up with touchup paint.

Thanks for the replies, guys!

Yeah.....but.....but.....but....she let me buy the car. :)

No scrapes for me and I deal with speed bumps and drainage dips on a daily basis. My Corvette used to scrape EVERYTHING, man it was annoying.

My front parking sensors do beep and show proximity to things in front of me but I notice that they won't pick up on something as low as a curb or a parking block in front of the car.

Wuss, who wear da pants?
Yeah, well I'm an old geezer and I know how to handle politics. It will be a replacement for the wife's daily driver grocery hauler, but most of the miles will be mine on the open road. If she has to drive it, I get to pick it. She totally defers to me on car choices.
