This story of a lawsuit against Hyundai/Kia for automatic windows that don't meet regulations was on the Los Angeles CBS affiliate a couple of nights ago.

Anyone here have a carrot handy to test whether the Stinger has this problem?

Wow, not good, I want to test this out. I was under the assumption that just like the sunroof it does stop if a foreign object is in the way.
Now I will test my windows and the sunroof :cautious:

Don't test the sunroof with your head though Flame. ;)

Maybe I'll use a soft toy? I don't want to damage the power windows either.

On my old BMW if you just lightly pressed the window rubber it would stop.

My ram will just crush the shit out of your fingers.

Adults having a case of the stupids is bad enough. It's kids that will end up getting this to "work". Gives me the shivers just thinking about it.

We could thin the herd and improve the gene pool by turning this into the next youtube challenge.

At least we all know what to do if a Car Jacker or Robber sticks their fingers into our windows :whistle:

I have a 1 year old and a 4 year old so this post concerned me. I just tested a window with a stick of celery and the car passed, it left a small indent on the celery and then retracted when it felt the resistance.

Okay! Not good. I just did the celery stick test. Both front windows and the RL window. All three (kid-finger-sized) celery sticks were amputated without the slightest hinderance. It was as if the celery were not there, at all.

From this point on, I am keeping the passenger window buttons turned off at my driver's station. Anyone who wants windows down will have to ask me.

I tested the drivers side window only and mine is a 2018MY. My celery was noticeably thicker than Merlin's so that may have also played a role haha

I wanted to replicate the c. size of a child's finger. I'm not too concerned about witless adults. :P

Yes, especially adults who hang on my window when lowering themselves into the car! Who does that?! But it would be nice to be sure the window mechanism met federal regulations.

Lol well I would assume a finger of even a child with bones would have more density than a tiny stick of celery. My guess would be that a carrot is a better mesuring device for this test since it's a lot denser than celery.
