Hi folks, I’m planning some upgrades to my 2018 GT AWD.

I will definitely do the intakes, and I might do the tune. I’ll also definitely do the sway bars. I’m conflicted about the exhaust. While I would love a better sound from the car, I’m not clear if upgrading the exhaust is worth the cost in the context of those other upgrades.

In addition, this is the daily driver, so I don’t want to change the sound so much it’s unpleasant for my wife and infant. But I’d love a little more gurgle and growl when driving around town.

If I’m off base in my assessment of the value of the exhaust upgrade, please let me know. More specifically, if there are ways to upgrade the sound that don’t involve an entire exhaust upgrade, would love to hear about those.

Thanks in advance!

Essentially the NGM delta is what you would want or if you want to go the more expensive route you can get an evc exhaust which let's you pick when you want your car to sound stock and when you want it to scream. There's a few sound clips of ngm delta around, I have them and did the ark secondary cat deletes. To me it adds the perfect personality to the car. It essentially screams when you get on the gas but if youre just driving normal its a tad louder than stock but has a nicer sound.

Replacing the mufflers has the largest single impact on power output (besides a piggyback or tune). The stock mufflers are very restrictive.
Some systems are loud, some aren't. There's clips of just about everything out there. I have the Magnaflow kit and it's almost as quiet as stock when at a stop or cruising, but gets louder the more you step on it.
My personal priority list, having done all of these (and more) would be exhaust, then intakes, then piggyback/tune.

You can always take the car to an exhaust shop and have them weld in some mufflers. A good shop can give recommendations based on the sound that you want.

Thanks, this is super helpful from both of y’all.

Oddball, this suprises me:

> Replacing the mufflers has the largest single impact on power output (besides a piggyback or tune). The stock mufflers are very restrictive.

I guess I’ve just seen conflicting info, and honestly don’t know enough about exhaust to evaluate. I thought the exhaust on the Stinger was _not_ super restrictive, but sounds like I’m wrong? How much power do new mufflers _only_ give—just a ballpark, I know tgat’s all dependent on a slew of other factors.

Sounds like Lordstark’s suggestion there might be the right one in that case. A simple muffler upgrade, instead of the whole system, feels like the right amount of money and effort for this part of the car.

Hey Stingerjefferson,

It sounds like you have a pretty good blueprint for a daily driver with some performance mods so far.

If you are looking to get a little more grunt without the full sound of a catback exhaust, I would highly suggest getting the Ark Secondary Downpipes.

The Ark Downpipes will give you a good boost in power and a nice aggressive exhaust tone that is not overbearing.

We have had a few people go with this setup instead of the catback and they have all loved it as a daily driving option.

Thanks, Daniel. I’m probably going to do a whoLe cat back exhaust, actually. I’ll like be in touch in the next week or so about that. Appreciate it!
