Hey everyone. So I park my car in a private garage and I noticed a decent smell of gas coming from the exhaust upon start up. I can let the car idle for 10 minutes and the smell persists but if I drive it for a bit then park it, leave it running and smell the exhaust there's no gas smell. I also noticed more soot on the exhaust pipes then I'm used to seeing. I changed the plugs 3000 miles ago to Densos gapped to .022...not sure if these could be the issue. I logged a map 2 run a couple days ago and had some bad timing deviations, 4.5-7.5. Could be bad gas..not sure. I pulled the plugs with the worst deviations and they still look good and are holding the gap. I live downtown so I don't get to open the car up very often performance wise so could this just be unburnt fuel I'm smelling? I'm also running Injen intakes and Borla catback. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Winter gas? Yea i know sounds dumb but it does change a little. Dont know when the change over is though

Yeah that’s a possibility. I don’t know…the smell was minimal today so maybe normal? Just never noticed it before so it made me a bit nervous but the car runs great aside from the timing issue which I’ll get sorted. Thanks for the reply man!

I would get a wide-band O2 sensor and measure the air/fuel ratio.

No healthy modern car should smell like gas from its exhaust.
