Gas lid getting stuck from ice

I'm sorry for report but I couldn't find it. I Remember reading some posts awhile back about the gas lid getting stuck from ice. I had it happen to me today and was wondering if anyone has figured out a way to prevent this? Thanks

There's a manual fuel door release handle in the hatch. It allows you to use more force to open the fuel door if it's frozen. Worked like a charm for me.

I wish some of the other cars I've owned had this.

Have had mine frozen closed the last few times I’ve filled up. Here is my process: hit the fuel door release left of the steering wheel (this won’t pop it open), take a credit card and push it in the opening between the fuel door and the side panel, gently pry up on the door in a few different spots(this still won’t open it), finally hit the fuel door release again and it’ll pop right open. I’m his has worked, without fail, 4 straight times. You don’t have to pry hard for the ice to break free, so dont think you need more force when the door doesn’t pop open when doing so. I plan to try the cooking oil on the sealing surfaces soon.
