After tough but well worth it negotiations that lasted days (mostly through texts, phone calls, and 1 visit to dealership) I got my White with red interior GT1 (No Drive wise pkg).
I went to the dealership to finalize a deal after going over some numbers for a few days with the salesman, Allen. Great guy btw. Best salesman I’ve had for sure. (I’ve bought 7 cars in the last 5 years and he is by far the best so far).
I was going to buy the Limited Sunset GT with LSD but my wife said no bueno after seeing the yellow.. then came the struggle trying to find another one to agree on.
Was going in to just buy a base model GT (MRSP $39250 or $41250) with or without drive wise. They only had yellow and blue. My wife didn’t like either (she would not let me get those colors and she didn’t care what I said. I was lucky enough that she even let me buy the car in the first place so I was going to agree to any color haha).
So I test drove a GT1 (MRSP $44,200) white with red interior (mine now
) and loved it. Liked the extra features like the memory seats, powered tilt steering wheel, sun roof, speaker system but my wife gave me a budget and had to stick to it so my journey for a GT base continues because that was what I could only afford.
Eventually they said that they had a black on black with drive wise at a sister dealership and would do a dealer trade. We worked out some numbers for it after some negotiations back and forth. We finally agreed but it was so late that I couldn’t get the car that night. They said they would deliver my car with the paper to me the next day. So I agreed (I did the same with my Audi because it was really late then too) I had work the next day so they said they would bring my new car to work. Perfect! (I had to pick up my Audi.. they didn’t even offer a delivery)
The next day came and I received a call on my break and they said that we can pick up your black GT right now and have it ready for you after your shift ends or we can make a deal you can’t turn down for the White GT1.. (they knew I fell in love with that one cuz I kept trying to make a deal on that one first but numbers were way too high)
At first I thought it was going to be impossible to get a right deal done for it because it was going to be way too much.
After much negotiations again that went through my shift and into my lunch (my wife was getting mad because I kept telling her that I was getting the black then white then black then white again..).
After thinking the deal would never happen, they hit me with a deal I couldn’t resist! They gave me 3k off MRSP (below invoice) and increased more money for my trade (more than CarMax quoted me). No dealer mark ups either. They pretty much sold me my GT1 for a little less than the MRSP of a GT with drive wise. My payments only went up 15 bucks more than what I agreed on for the black on black GT with drive wise. Worth every penny for those extra features on my GT1 and I Got my car delivered to me! (Detailed, full tank of gas, etc)
I know i got lucky because they didn’t want to give up a car on the dealer trade so I’m assuming they would rather loose money selling the car to me.
I don’t know if you guys think differently about my deal but I know I got a killer deal and a great salesman and finance guy (Chad) that got me into my dream car.
