• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Hopefully this helps me in my decision... but has anyone considered or did buy the extended warranty from Kia direct?

My car currently is sitting at 28,477km which is practically new still, but the factory warranty ends this July.

I was looking at the 5 star plan for at least 4-5 years because there's no urge compared to my previous car to move onto something newer. But when the plan starts at like 4.7k up to 5k it's a bit for extended warranty.

As it sits I have been doing all the recommended maintenance and outside of the cat back exhaust, sways, and maintenance-less OCC everything else is bone stock. Only issue I had so far is the passenger camera glitches (shows pink) but a restart of the car fixes it right away and this only happens like once in a blue moon.

Attached is the plan and second is the quote for my car specifically ‍

Any advice would be appreciated!

I bought it - and would buy it again without a doubt. - I got a better price - way back when I bought it $2,601
My first (and only so far) extended warranty claim was nearly $10k ($0.00 paid by me)

also - this part just feels nice - ALL VEHICLE COMPONENTS

Notably, in the fine print - Diagnostics ARE included and covered by the warranty - if the repair is covered - I had to argue this - but I won easily - and angrily. Because I ABSOLUTELY should not have had to fight this - as it is written in plain english.

Post #39 here has some details / images

I exaggerated in my last post - wasn't $10k - was only $8,508.76 (CAD).

My only issue is how would I be able to negotiate the price down or is it a too late kind of deal since this wasn't done during the car purchase.. ‍ I'm kinda on the fence of not doing it but at the same time it does have it's pros especially in your situation

I definitely negotiated my price down during the purchase of the car, different scenario, different time frame, different year.

As for negotiating the price now, hard to say, that might be impossible. Doesn't hurt to try. Make an offer..

1 starter
1 left side mirror
1 right side headlight.
$8,508.76 (CAD)

And I still have 70k+ KMs left of very comprehensive coverage.

In 2022 (1 yr after purchase), I bought the extended warranty for peace of mind.

I may have saved $50-100 by buying it from the dealership in Indiana, but in communicating with them, not all questions were answered, or answered completely. The above was from the selling dealer.

It's actually 100Kmiles from date of contract purchase, so total odo ~ 106K miles and 10 years from 8/2022. This is the platinum package, underwritten by Fidelity. Prob equivalent to the .ca package above in terms of coverage. Pdf of covered items below.

I think mine was called platinum as well in 2020 when I got mine, I think it was around the 2k mark as well but I negotiated a better price then list and they gave me a break because Im a server military member.
I havent used any of it yet but I figured with the complexity of the drivetrain it was a decent insurance plan.

I bought the top line extended warranty for 9 years when I bought the car. I was concerned about the complexity, the quantity of electronic modules and their cost. To me, it was a no brainer.

Hmm

the Australian Stinger My23 GT comes with a 7 year unlimited km warranty. Infotainment 3 years.

If cars came with a lesser warranty then I guess you might look at taking an extended Kia backed factory warranty.

Warranty is just insurance.

Manufacturers build it into the new car price.

I guess if you travel the Gun Barrel Hwy several times a year, you could rack up the kilometers in seven years. You wouldn't want to do that one in a Stinger, though.

Yep.

One of the reasons I bought the Stinger GT was the 7 year unlimited km warranty.

There is also capped priced servicing for 7 years and free roadside assist.
