Hi all
Has anyone had the front of their EWG break off? I was on track the other day, lost boost and got a check engine light. I found the front of the EWG broken off. I fitted a replacement off another turbo. It functions to a point, but I’m getting code P2586.
Anyone know how to reset it? Or have a procedure to readjust the shaft? Kia will only sell it as a full turbo assembly.

Hi dear,
Did you find a solution for this issue i got the same error!

I fitted a secondhand one off another turbo from the same side and it’s all working now. Kia don’t sell them separately but You can buy them aftermarket.
The issue will be getting the adjustment right. If it is just slightly off the output voltage read by the ecu will be out of spec and it will throw a code. I don’t think you could adjust it yourself without the right scan tool.
Lozic told me:
“When the Waste Gate Actuator (EWGA) position sensor voltage is detected to be above 2.14V or below 0.34V in the closed state (sensor signal abnormality).”
I also read that the expected voltage changes with temperature. I suppose this is due to expansion when the turbo gets hot.

New to the stinger but the optima turbos are somewhat known to have waste gate calibration issues (temperature changes noted above exasperate this). I had to adjust mine and it wasn’t much of an issue. I pulled live voltage readings using a cheap Bluetooth adapter, Torqe Pro with the Kia add-on, and an android tablet. That might be the right scan tool that’s pretty inexpensive. If I get a chance Ill check mine to see if it works.

Sorry, Torque is no good. Looks like its been a while since updates.

I found out the hard way how it works.
That nut with the yellow marking can't be moved. You can use a used one as long as it comes out of the same side as yours. Both side are different in length. It can't be disassembled. You need to just undo the e clip at the turbo not the nut.

I have this same error code for quite some time and went to different shops to get it fixed and they couldn’t detect the issue so this is extremely helpful. Is there a link for the part that I can buy if anyone knows? Would be much appreciated !
