Driving a new GT and noticing what I call an intermittent engine surge or idle stumble. Only happens when the auto stop/start is engaged. It's hot here in TX and when the a/c is running and I stop, w/in a few seconds the engine rumbles and vibrates after it's been cut off automatically. When I shut off the auto stop/start, it doesn't do this. Do I need to go back to dealer to have this diagnosed? Thanks.

Our start/stop systems are not the smoothest, a lot of people just have it disabled all the time. If it's an excessive amount of vibrating/surging I'd take it to the dealer to have it checked out. It should feel/be no different than when you start the car normally (especially from a cold start it needs to idle higher to warm up the cats and oil)

Thanks Cyrus. The car barely has 450 miles on it, but this issue started almost from the beginning. it's very hot here in Dallas area right now and so a/c runs all the time. When I stop at a light, the engines cuts off but the a/c compressor wants to run. Of course, it doesn't blow cold air unless the engine starts up again and when that happens, it stumbles and vibrates a bit. This is annoying, so I turn off the auto stop-start and it runs fine. Will a dealer turn off or disable this "feature" or do I have to find a pirate to do it? Thanks again.

I feel you. I believe if it's held down with something it will be turned off when you start the car. They can't program it off for emessions reasons is my guess. Most use a small piece of plastic wedged into the gapof the switch to hold it down all the time I think.

I'd certainly use the warranty and contact the dealer if you think it's not a norrmal problem. But like I said. Not the smoothest start/stop systems out there so they might tell you what you're experiencing is normal. Can't hurt to let them check it out though.

It's become pretty much habit to just turn it off as soon as I get in the car, if I'm leaving the house in the morning so I can more quietly roll out in auto. Any other situation and I drive with the shifter in manual gate which turns off ISG automatically.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

I forgot that part. Manual Gate also lobotomizes Smart Mode. Using the paddle shifters at all does that.

Sounds to me just like the A/C compressor is just kicking on. It cycles and when it does it causes your engine idle to dip slightly. This is completely normal.
